Last year, Terri Ann Wintermute lost a close election to Linda Holmes to replaced Ed Petka for the 42nd District Illinois Senate seat. Because it is only a 2 year term, the seat will be contested again in 2008.
Wintermute has said she will again pursue the seat. Holmes won during a Democratic sweep that made a difference. In addition, Holmes was funded primarily by Illinois Senate President Emil Jones and it will be interesting to see if he dumps hundreds of thousands of dollars again to repurchase the seat.

Linda Holmes hasn't done much.
Wintermute is a great candidate. The only chance Holmes has is if Emil Jones dumps money.

.
Holmes doesn't have a chance!!!!
Go Terri!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
.
I'm a Dem and I agree... I think holmes will go down in flames. She's a non starter and very unimpressive, to me anyway and I'd like to add - a bitch.
Chaped Vulva and Holmes are very close.
Oh man--- time to get this slacky out. What did she do while whe was on the County Board? She did not even complete her term. She is real good at attending every meeting she can, but accomplishes virtually nothing. Go Terri.
What has Terri done????????
I'm an Independent. I vote for people, not parties. Both parties suck.
Go take a drive to Bolingbrook and and what was once a second rate city has transformed itself. Go take a look and you will see what she had a hand in (while in economic development) all while Aurora just falls further and further behind.
Oh, and a buffalo wild wings on Orchard and another car wash on Farnsworth do not cut it. Holmes did absoultely nothing while in her county board seat and has yet to do anything but put her name on bills. I bet she is attending a lot of meeting though.
amen
Openline, again the poster on 6/14 11:09AM is using unappropriate name changing. It is offensive and uncalled for. This person can state what they want without this. Please remove the posting.
I'll vote for people like most other people vote based on looks. Linda is a hot mama that I would love to bring home to Ma. On the other hand....Terri is a fat cow and you'd see on Hee Haw and underserving of any votes.
Terri will see the numbers WERE there in 06 and they will get worse for her in 08. Is this site GOP central?
By the way, look at what Terri did at on the Will County board... lots of fluff on her resume that was never revealed. This time maybe the press will dig deeper.
Holmes will be sent packing along with the rest of the Democrats who rode the national wave in 06.

I think the press will be busy reporting what was NOT DONE by Linda Chapa and Linda Holmes.
And things like raising their own salaries
Hey, Linda Holmes voted to bring in more gambling boats to Chicago, that certainly is looking out for the best interest of Aurora by forcing it into bankrupcy. Linda Holmes is a puppet for Emil Jones.
HomeTown parking isn't city's problem
June 15, 2007
Anyone who has driven through the HomeTown Aurora subdivision can easily see that the houses are small and stacked on top of each other, the streets are narrow and winding, and parking is at a premium. Buyers in the 1,300-home development certainly should take those factors into consideration when purchasing a house from Bigelow Homes.
Yet as obvious as those conditions might be, residents in the East Side community through their homeowners association have asked the city to conduct a parking study at the expense of taxpayers to come up with solutions. Alderman Stephanie Kifowit, 3rd Ward, wants to spend some of her discretionary wards funds to perform the study, claiming the problems can be attributed to builder error.
While aldermen usually approve each others' ward-fund expenditures -- perhaps because they don't want their own decisions in spending $480,000 annually questioned -- we can't see a justification for this parking study. Even some residents admit that homeowners cause many of the problems, so the solution should start with a change in behavior on their part.
Residents knew what they were getting when they purchased homes, but now they're complaining that the narrow streets and a lack of storage space -- which causes garages to fill up and forces more cars onto the streets -- has caused a parking crunch. And instead of renting storage space, getting rid of an extra car they knew they didn't have room for in the first place, or talking to their neighbors about following existing parking regulations, they are blaming someone else and asking the city to throw money at the problem.
Kifowit seems eager to acquiesce, no doubt seeing a golden opportunity to publicly criticize developer Jamie Bigelow, with whom she has been feuding since the demise of the Hi-Lite 30 drive-in theater last year. Bigelow correctly pointed out this week that the city can't tear out the streets in HomeTown and start over. So what exactly will a parking study accomplish? It's likely to conclude that parking is a problem caused by the residents who live there. The city shouldn't have to spend tens of thousands of dollars to figure that out.
As much as Kifowit wants to blame Bigelow, the truth is that he didn't take anyone by surprise with the narrow streets and small starter homes. The Aurora City Council approved the design, and buyers should have been able to anticipate their housing and parking needs before moving in. If the residents want a parking or traffic study, maybe the homeowners association should foot the bill.
If Kifowit spends public funds to fix this problem, what will HomeTown residents complain about next? The fact that the houses are too close together? What then?
This is the problem with society today, people making uniformed decisions based on superficial attributes. People need to look at the candidates and look at the facts. The facts are that Terri Wintermute is the much stronger candidate that will do this district justice.
It is amazing that ignorant people are able to become registered to vote. Perhaps there need to be stricter guidelines on registering voters to weed out those that merely vote for the sake of voting and cost thousands of people money.
Way to go for supporting your hot momma, she has acted like a “hoe” in politics taking money right out of your pockets with her recent votes to increase taxes. Sounds like that’s the kind of woman you like.
P.S. Badda Bing Girl or Classy Professional-
I've done my research!
It will be interesting to see if Linda Holmes gets the funding from Emil Jones again- Geez she might actually have to get off her butt and work???
As long as Linda just keeps doing what is told of her, Emil will keep the money flowing. These politicians just want "Yes" people, they don't care about what is the right thing to do.
per the Beacon News website:
"In celebration of Father's Day, the Beacon News asked readers to submit photos of fathers and sons."
hmmm. guess I should only send a picture with me and my son and hell with my daugther. This paper is a step above the trade n times.
The Beacon did the same thing for Mothers and Daughters on Mothers Day. I saw that some fathers had there daughters in their pictures today and the Beacon printed it. I am not a big fan of the Beacon, more advertising than anything else, bad print, not enought research on articles, overplaying certain stories that other papers have the stories out before them and that includes articules on this City, many other things I could go on about, but I think they are being fair here.
yeah, that makes a lot of sense. (Beacon News sense that is) nice try though.
Me thinks that you had to much barly pop.
you guys are ALL a bunch of idiots! The GOP has had their chance to run this state for 30 years and amassed billions of dollars in bond debt for future generations to pay off in Build Illinois and Illiois first. Furthermore, it was THEIR inability to manage the huge pension obligations of the state that has caused the budget problems we are facing today (current political problems aside). When all of you guys get a clue you will also realize that she is a freshamn senator who represents an area controlled by wealthy developers and GOP sweatheart deals and that it takes more than just one short legilsative session in Springfield to change decades of GOP coruption. Furthermore, Wintermute represents to a T what is wrong with the GOP party in this state and is about as useful as the toe jam from a pig's foot!
Well said. The GOP got us into this problem in the first place.
Go Terri!
The Democrats are going down, down, down...
I hope the Republicans have more, stragetically, up their sleeves than 'Go Terri'.
But probably not.
Holmes is nothing but Emil's lackey
Terri Wintermute is in bed with organizaed labor. She does not support free competition on state funded construction projects. We have had enough pay to play in Springfield. Terri will just be more of the same.
