Illinois Auditor Report Slams CeaseFire Program

CeaseFire's anti-violence program was not just cut in Aurora, but completely around the State of Illinois, despite positive results in some parts of Chicago and suburbs like Rockford, but when you read the Illinois State Auditor General's report, you start to understand there were problems throughout the program.

From the top, the Board of Directors failed to meet with a quorum even once during the audit period. Who's the big chair? It's His Exellency King Richard Daley II. The board was criticized for failing to provide adequate fiscal and policy oversight. That may explain why Daley suddenly yesterday blasted the Governor for cutting the CeaseFire program.

In Aurora, the audit showed slow progress, lack of activity and insufficient results compared to other communities.

Surprise, surprise. This program has shown next to nothing for results. Strictly feel good - show the taxpayers results, Chapa-Via!

The report is extremely critical of the Aurora program in particular. The Beacon News somehow did not state that in their story. In fact, the Aurora program is a complete failure. Check it out at the link in the posting.

Sounds like another "feel good" group designed to get politicians press. Our tax money should not be used that way.

CeaseFire worker Louie Velasquez arrested Saturday for drugs and weapons in his Chicago home. What a successful program.

Or, Laurin Vargas, 37, of Chicago, convicted of gun and drug charges last May-- another happy CeaseFire employee.

What a waste of taxpayer money. Yet, the leftists since LBJ have wreaked the family and removed the father in favor of these type of moronic programs.

Ceasefire is a joke because all the regular people had their fingers in it. The buddy system played a part in who would run it. It was sometimes being run by Lillian Perry; sometimes being run somewhere else. There is no leadership in Aurora. God's Gym tried to sponsor it and they bankrupted them. The AU thought it was too much of a risk for them; now AID is housing them. This program has always been a joke.

The caseworkers are not out in the neighborhoods; they're sitting behind a desk pushing papers and getting a pay check. I think it's an admiral idea but Aurora has no direction other than selfishness.

ceasefire in aurora didn't get a lot of press. The only times I can remember seeing their name in print was to show up at a prayer vigil after a killing. I know the the budget included ongoing support of familys and help with loss. Did they actually do any proactive gang intervention education or try to stop the spread. It seems the gangs are operating more smoothly. I know I have a gang member living on the west side in the freeman school district and I believe even though they busted the house last year it's still going on with younger siblings taking over. I know that a house on kensington was also busted not long ago. These are bigger suppliers and not the thugs that sell downtown. I don't know if the police department get's it but you have to kill the root to stop the feeders. same as in gardening.

the only time ceasefire got press is when Linda Blago-LaVia announced she got a little money to fund it

is she going to include ceasefire in her political literature along with Blago's accomplishments?
