Kane County State's Attorney John Barsanti to Review Investigations Into Planned Parenthood Controversy

John Barsanti
Kane County State's Attorney

(updated) The Aurora City Council has named Kane County State's Attorney John Barsanti to review the investigations into the process, facts, people and circumstances surrounding Planned Parenthood's clinic in Aurora.

Planned Parenthood's clinic site is located in the DuPage County portion of Aurora. Barsanti will review reports by both Martens and Luetkehans.

Planned Parenthood's request for an injunction against the City of Aurora will be heard on Thurday in U.S. District Court before Judge Charles Norgle.

This is incorrect. The City Council approved the lawyer's findings being reffered to the State's Attorney to review them for any wrong doing and possible criminal penalties on the grounds of fraud.

My understanding is the lawyer still will complete his investigation.

Shut them down NOW!

Everyone should protest this lookng the other way crap!

WE know they defrauded us and now we let them get away with it.

I think this pro life folks should for a human chain aroun the place and if anyone even atempts to cross it without an occupancy permit they should perform a citizen's arrest immediatley.

This crap has to stop NOW Weisner!

You will never be elected again to anything!

it's correct. Barsanti will take both previous investigator's reports and review them.

Luetkehans has to complete his report on his findings thus far yet.

I hope any investigation looks at how city officials screwed up this whole situation.

We have not replace Luetkehans he will finish his investigation and then Barsanti will review it.

Are you sure Openline deleted your post? They always acknowledge when they delete any post. Did you make sure yours went thru when you posted it? I have posted before and when I checked for some reason it did not go thru.

Anonymous said...

Well, you seem to be responding to a post that is no longer there. What do you think?

Openline said...

We have updated our original story and note the error by the local fishwrap in their reporting.

Anonymous said...

Exactly what was the fishwrap's error? Seems like Openline got it wrong by assuming Barsanti would replace the other guy. The Beacon seems to have it right.

Anonymous said...

And what about the deleted posts, Openline? All that was asked was that you acknowledge that the Beacon has this story, and link them. That's all. You do that for the Daily Herald and Chicago Tribune all the time. Neither of them have this story, that I can see.

Anonymous said...

Why does the Beacon staff post here anonymously? Personally, I think the Beacon is the WORST newspaper in our region. I don't see the Beacon linking this blog or the Daily Herald or Chicago Tribune.

Is it lawful to deceive any government on applications?

when PP wrote "unknown" for the tenant, that obviously was not true.

If any investigation shows the Aurora Mayor Tom Weisner knew anything about this PP clinic, then he should resign.

That also includes Carie Ergo and Alayne Weingartz who would have covered up for Weisner in that situation.

You are a hilarious, histerical nitwit. Go sit down and cool off.

Anonymous said...

I agree 9:51 but who will look into this? Who on the Council will ask for it?

Anonymous said...

Anyone who knew of PP before all this happened should resign or be fired. This has cost everyone time and money. It has also made PP and the city of Aurora look bad.

Anonymous said...

Weisner for Mayor!

Anonymous said...

Why is a Kane County official looking into a Dupage county problem? I know all the pro lifers claim this is a national problem but the clinic isn't Kane County's problem. Why take the headache?

Anonymous said...

Listen!....Abortion is a legal option in this country...deal with it. ALL of you need to re-direct your energy to the hard issues Aurora is facing.....crime, gang activity, absentee landlords, overcrowded properties, school test scores, property violations, the increase in PROPERTY FORECLOSURES, etc....walk your neighborhood streets, get involved....jeez!

Anonymous said...

12:35 – I agree.

The fist objective would be to pass an ordinance banning the conversion of single family homes to multiple family units.

Single family to multiple family conversions guarantee that the neighborhood will soon be a ghetto.

Once again, remember that slavery and segregation were also once legal. Thank God the heroes that protested these injustices and had the law changed didn't just "deal with it". Real poverty is that a child must die so that others may live as they wish.

Does anyone know when a baby becomes a baby?

Knowing that may help solve this problem of "choice" vs "life."

Anonymous said...

1:48p.m....tell that to a 13 year old rape victim....

Anonymous said...

Again- LOOK AT THE SIDEWALKS- or lack thereof. The City knew the whole time what was going on! PP planned on no sidewalks so protestors and counselors couldn't get closer to their building. The City NEVER waives the sidewalk code... for politically unconnected anyway. [Look at all new developments around here- first thing in is a sidewalk going from nowhere to no place which no one will use BECAUSE THAT'S THE CODE!]
Certain alderman can play both sides: support the "investigation" while safe in knowing PP has/will get their way via Weisner and all of his fellow travellers.

tell that to a baby with a heartbeat being sucked piece by piece into oblivion....

The pro-life advocates are so selfish.
Their main concern is that their beliefs are forced onto others, not giving any thought about the quality of life of the potential child.

There are about 514,000 kids living in potential hell under the foster care system.

But don’t worry. At the end of the day you can go home and tell all your cats what a profound person you are.

Alderman and Mayor Weisner,

I do support the review of Attorney Luetkehans report by States Attorney John Barsanti. We also did promise the people of Aurora that this would be a very open and a public debate and review. I would suggest that the report by Luetkehans be released to the public when complete. After John Barsanti has issued his opinion to Council we must take Luetkehans and Barsanti opinions and bring this issue to a vote by the full Council. Any decision that we make on this issue will most definitely end up in the Courts. As the representatives of the people of Aurora it is imperative that we speak with a clear voice. I know that it would be easier to have an outside party decide this issue for us but we were elected to set the direction of this city. It's never easy to take stand on an extremely controversial issue but it will send the wrong message to the people of Aurora if their elected officials do not bring this important decision to a vote. I do hope that you all share my thoughts on this.

Why don't you just try to get a law that kills those 514,000 kids living in potential hell under the foster care system. What's the difference, kill them now, or kill them later.

Sheesh, talk about selfish, that you think they would all be better off dead. That's like saying anyone who lives in adverse conditions can not turn into anyone of value and would be better of dead. Think this through, for heaven's sake!

Once again Lawrence is on top of things.

Rick Lawrence,
Don't give me this garbage that you spewed on the conservative radio show on WIND the other day that you didn't know that a PP was coming to town. There are plenty of resources out there to research companies, I know I work for the goverment. And don't give me this crap that PP tells kids not to listen to their parents. That is completely the opposite. Proper sex ed is best prevention.

Hey Question for you all.

Is Barasanti working as a Kane County State's Attorney or as a private attorney hired by the city of Aurora.

If he is working as the Kane County States attorney would he in fact be reporting to himself and not the City of Aurora. And is the violation, if one exist's, in Kane or Dupage County.

If he is working as a private attorney is he working on this after his daily responsibilties to the citizens of Kane County.

To me this smells as bad as all the rest of legal mess the city is in

Anonymous said...

I think it smells fishy; kinda like Weisner. There is no reasonable explaination for this except Weisner's incompetence. He is such a failure at everything.

No one knew PP was coming to town except the Mayor. Rick's job as alderman is to oversee items; the staff (under the Mayor's leadership-hahaha; which he has none) is supposed to do all the background work. That is where everything failed.

don't blame Weisner, the Aldermen-at-large were in cahrge to find a lawyer

Anonymous said...

You have me on that one. Yes, the post I responded to is not there and it does seem funny that my post to you is still there. Openline, did you remove those 2 posts? If so you should have removed mine. This does not look good for you if you did this. Please reply back to this, Openline.

Anonymous said...

Don't blame weisner???????? He's the f*ckin Mayor. If he was able to do his job then he wouldn't have needed to reassign the job. He is loser.

Anonymous said...

Don't BLAME weisner? The aldermen at large would not have had topick a lawyer if this was handled RIGHT in the BEGINING!

When the Barsanti review is complete maybe it can be reviewed by Big Jim Thompson.

Anonymous said...

Although the building is in DuPage, the Kane County State's Attorney is reviewing because the permitting was done at city hall, which is in Kane County.
Barsanti is reviewing under the guidelines of his statutorily defined job, not as a private attorney, not as a favor.
If a crime has been committed, it is his job to examine the facts, determine which law was broken and file charges on behalf of the people of Kane County/State of Illinois.
He is the best State's Attorney we have had in years, and I trust he will do the job right.

Anonymous said...

Weisner is to blame, all right. And so is the rest of the city council.
The fact is, Planned Parenthood followed the law. This is Corporate Law 101. Look at the applications, look at the permits, look at the legal ads. It was all there. Just because they didn't use the words, "Planned Parenthood" and "abortion," doesn't mean a law was broken.
The only reason we are where we are now is because the city council doesn't have the stones to stand up for their previous decisions and has instead been backpeddling for weeks, now.

If people would simply realize that Planned Parenthood, though the 90 percent of the services it offers that are not abortions, prevent more abortions than it performs, then this would have been done with along time ago.

If he is the best States Attorney, where the hell is he on this Mayor Shodeen/ front person Weisner ordeal?

As far as getting the so called Mayor in a meeting or even on the phone..forget it. If your not on his campain contrabution list, scrap that idea.

Your blood draw proposal is just lunacy, I think the level of incompetence in leadership is shown clear here. Actually you cant force blood out of a person or order it without that person having the right to defend themselves. You might want to look at what the thousands upon thousands of dui cases have done for prevention of accidents even with the thousands of people who "blew" is that to much to consider? How about a breathlyzer in every bar? Get some constitutional sense.
