Speaker Denny Hastert Joins DC Lobbying Firm

Aurora native and longtime Congressman of the 14th Congressional District before becoming Speaker of the House, Denny Hastert, has now become a senior advisor to a lobbying firm's public policy unit in Washington DC.

Andrew Zausner, partner at Hastert's new employer Dickstein Shapiro, says Hastert's counsel is "invaluable."

I bet he is invaluable. He is the one who engineered the high food and gas prices in this country while speaker, by climbing in bed with the likes of ADM, the Iowa corn growers, the Illinois corn growers etc. Whenever he needed a boost for his compaing funds their the ones he called on. He is just like our current senators, Obama and Durban in their refusing to drill for oil in our own country. If you ask me all of these people should be jailed for TREASON against the people of the United States.

Big Surprise!!

How about the Blago/Hastert partnership looking for $30 billion in capital funds. Thats 2 indictments waiting to happen.

HASTERT HAS ALWAYS BEEN DIRTY. HE DIDN'T HAVE TO LEAVE GOVERNMENT TO MAKE DEALS FOR BIG BUSINESS.

I'm sure his next move will be for the Weisner administration.

how far the mighty have fallen. remember when he was our chozen son? How's that Prairie parkway look to you now? Just another money grab and business arrangment. He's not done yet you watch.

All the local politicians who supported the Prairie Parkway because Big Denny asked them to should now be ashamed of themselves. It cost our area hundreds of millions of dollars in transportation money that could have been used on needed projects, where current residents live and experience terrible traffic conditions. Hastert's deparate attempts to team with Blagoyvich to fund the project is so obvious. How many other secret land trusts exist? Foster could put an end to this project and have the $250 million in federal funds reprogrammed to more important projects if he has the balls to do the right thing.

I'll bet Hastert's new lobbying firm stands to make a boatload if the Illinois capital plan is passed.

House ethics committee? These sons of bitches wouldn't know ethics if it bit them in the ass!

what the hell happens to people in Washington? They become more self important than the people who they supposedly represent at home. Denny went to washinton with better idea's and now he just a old lame political has been with connections. Prairie Parkway was just a land grab for his buddies to build business on in Kendall county. We in Kane county had leadership in place to guard against these ideas. Mr McCoy was thought to be wrong for not going along with this parkway project and look what history has shown. He was right along with others who continue to guard against this type of preditory money grubbing behavior by our elected officials.

Prairie Parkway is right for this area. Had nothing to do with preditory land grubbing.

Come on out and see the sun.

Prairie Parkway has to do with filling the pockets of Ingmanson and Hastert nothing else! Personaly I like Marvel Davis's description of Hastert myself. Very fitting.

Prairie Parkway makes sense as a planning project and corridor protection project. To use our extremely scarce capital dollars to build a Minooka Kaneville expressway now is just plain wrong. If you doubt this, drive out west and look for youself where the centerline is. If you still think this is the best current use for 1 billion transportation dollars then you probably own land with Hastert, Ingemunson, and all the rest of the crooks.

Only the good die young. So, Denny Hastert will be screwing US citizens for a long long time.

He talked Bush into obtaining Federal grants for this Prairie Parkway. Then he sold his land under a faticious name (his wife) knowning it would be condemn imminant domain and the reap millions more from the government (our tax dollars) for this highway. And then when the press wanted to ask him questions regarding this, he denied any interviews. What a piece of shit.

Wow I see a bunch of Liberal morons hate Hastert.

What a surprise, Not! I am quite sure they all back Weiner boy for mayor as well.

Better than being an ignorant Hastert suckass.

Hastert is the greatest man to ever live in this area. He did great things for our community, our country and the world. He will go down as one of the truly great American statesman of all time. How lucky for us to be able to claim him as one of our own. He will continue to do great things for our country as a lobbyist in DC.

I'm sure you wrote all that at the same time you were laughing your ass off. Unless you are Hastert.

Prairie parkway has not only angered Liberals, but at least one conservative Republican. It's not about party ideology, it is about right and wrong. To blame one political party is tedious and boring. The only noble act I've seen is the elderly women who is donating her family farm back to the community. She's a class act! Hastert should meet her.

Re 8-4 4:17 Liberal, hardly I voted for this crook at least three times all the while unwittenly being duped by the republican party. I stopped voting for him when I realized that burning our food for transportation was one of his priorities! Honesty has nothing to do with party affiliation. Check out 8/3--8:38 truer words never spoken. Both party's candidates should be check for honesty BEFORE you vote.

Hastert is not only a great statesman, he is also brilliant. It's a shame he didn't control Foley, made shady land deals, got involved with Abramoff and DeLay, or he would still be leading our country. He would probably be the Republican nominee for president.

The triumverate of Bush, Cheney, and Hastert was the greatest leadership this country has ever experienced. History will prove this out.

Denny is also a great mentor. "The Coach" has trained the likes of Tom Cross and Karen Steve to political stardom. He is now putting aside party lines and coaching Blagojevich on how to get things done with his assistance on the capital projects bill. He will teach Blago that truth and honesty always prevail.

I'm pretty sure he had to quit when he did. I think the new law would have made him wait 2 years to lobby.
He got his son in the game years ago, and now he want's to grab the cash.
Amazing how the man has changed.

At least he will be working for a Gay-Transgender friendly
Firm.
Cash beats beliefs all the time!!!!!

Hastert hasn't changed one bit. We're just now realizing he was a phony from day 1.

Maybe he can take his personal money made from the land deal and his new bloated salary and pay back the taxpayers for the "special" election costs he dumped on all of us.

Anonymous said...

Should have left him sleeping in history class!

Bring back Mike McCoy. He was the only county chairman with a backbone.

Hastert used his influence to push him out so that he could put his lackey-lady in to help hire his old staffers.

I am a county employee and tired of seeing all the family connections being hired here.

Our gas taxes were raised and the county board membership gave themselves a raise in the process. The joke is on all of us.

Vote these people out of office.

I agree with the last post.

Will the Beacon News editor ever do a story on all the contributions given to county politicians in the last election cycle.

Match them or the individuals up with their employer or corporation. It far exceeds the percentages in Chicago.

Jim McRunnels was right and no newspaper wants to write about it.

Is this a cover up?

RE:8/11 7:34 The Beacon will never write about these contributions. After all it might stir up a controversey and we all know thats not PC. However it may also raise their circulation and we all know that the SUN TIMES is trying to go out of business, can't risk it!
