According to reports from the Associated Press, Rep. Rahm Emanuel from Chicago has agreed to become President-Elect Barack Obama's White House Chief of Staff.
Emanuel, who just was re-elected to Congress less than 48 hours ago and previously worked as an advisor to President Bill Clinton, would have to give up his seat to a special election and his powerful position as running the political show for House Democrats.
His reputation as a partisan, no-nonsense, cut your throat (politically, of course) if needed is a benefit to Obama to get things done, but also may create problems for Obama's "everyone come together" campaign pledge. His ties to City of Chicago politics and Mayor Richard Daley also are considered a negative by some, strength by others.
Former Senate Majority Leader Tom Daschle was also considered a possibility for Chief of Staff.
What Republicans or independents should Obama consider to include on his staff? Should Obama surround himself with a diverse group that will represent a broad spectrum?
>Update: Robert Gibbs is likely to be named White House spokesman for Barack Obama.

Lets see now we have Rahm, the home country africans declaring a holiday, and his indonesian school praising him......could this be a rapid move to the moslem left he denied all this time?
All this talk about Obama being a muslim, will he put his hand on the bible when he's sworn in? I heard they let some senator in Minnesota use the Koran.
What an amazing day in American history! I personally didn’t vote for Obama but am truly inspired by the positivity and global reaction resulting from his election. His energy is addicting and his demeanor inspiring.
His story is truly American. I’d love to dive into Obama’s mind and discover his motives and internal dialog. To go through a year of campaigning is very difficult, but to go through a year of campaigning and deliver a speech like that is truly inspirational. I’m excited about to see how he really attacks global warming and the energy crisis.
What’s also fascinating is looking at the dynamic of who voted, how they voted, and what drove them to vote. Obama’s campaign created a wave of energy that grew bigger and bigger as his campaign moved forward, engulfing (in a good way) each supporter and supercharging them. How did they do this? It all started with a vision. Obama’s vision, planted deep within his mind, began to take root almost 2 years ago today. The power of his vision can teach every American citizen about how to accomplish goals using the powers of visualization and intention.
I looked into this vision questing further and found that many super-successful people have been using vision boards to help focus their mind and accomplish their dreams. A vision board is a collage of images pasted on a board that represent your desired outcomes, your goals, and dreams. By studying your vision board, your brain gains clarity on what is important to your success, the things you MUST accomplish. I found a site www.TheVisionBoardKit.com that allows you to download a free 8-step power plan to creating vision boards. I’d highlight recommend downloading it.
First of all, Obama isn't Muslim, but so what if he is? The Quran or Bible or whatever is up to him.
Rahm is Jewish, so he isn't Christian, so should we have bigotry toward him, too?
I voted for McCain because of tax policy, but anyone who thinks being a Muslim or Jew somehow disqualifies you from public office is completely offensive.
Obama needs to be careful about too many of the Chicago political mafia.
He's got to prove he isn't going to do politics as usual.
If Obama isn't a Muslim, then why is Isreal all upset and siting on pins and needles while Pakistan, Iran and Jordan is dancing in the streets like they just acquire an allied?

impeachment, sweat not america we are all ready working on it....soon to leave in shame....stay tuned!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
...And this is Obama's plan of "reaching across the aisle and working together"?
I would have to agree...Chicago politics is either THE dirtiest or one of the dirtiest, most corrupt system in the country right now...and we now have people in the White House who are experts in this system of government??
And for those who don't understand why Obama denies his Muslim religion...google what "JIHAD" really means...better yet: click on this link:
http://www.catholic.com/library/endless_jihad.asp
Need more proof that Obama has "other" interests in mind, check out the ringing endorsements from: Fidel Castro, the Iranian Regime, and Hamas to name a few.
The proverbial sh*t has hit the fan, folks...it's just a matter of time until Obama takes the whole country down with him...
4:17 you are giving Emanuel credit for 06 and it should more properly go to Howard Dean and his 50 state strategy. Emanuel pushed pro-war candidates for the house and lost several races that might have been won by progressive candidates. Undercutting Christine Cegelis with Duckworth in Henry Hydes old district in DuPage County is one very glaring example. It also gives a clear picture of who Emanuel really is. I think a very real question about Emanuel though is his own agenda concerning Israel and Iran.
Go Rahmbo! Time to kick some Washington butt!
