The Illinois State Senate passed a medical marijuana bill that may or may not get considered by the Illinois House during the current session.
State Sen. Linda Holmes (D-Plainfield) said "We are talking about people here that are not looking to abuse a drug...to sit here and say that this drug has the potential to be abused, therefore, we should not be voting in favor of this bill...well, then go home and empty out your medicine cabinet because all your pain medications and all your sleep medications have the potential to be abused."

forget this medical marijuana nonsense. it is way past time to just plain legalize it once and for all. it is absolutely ridiculous that the government wastes so much time, money, effort and prison space to try to keep people from using weed. Makes no sense whatsoever. I'd like to pin this solely on those hypocritical Republicans who believe that government should stay out of people's lives, except for things like this, but the Dems are ridiculously timid on this issue as well.
don't bogart that joint my friend!!!!!
