Flygate | Walter Payton's Roundhouse Swats Back at Manny Maysonet

"Exhibit A"

Back in August 2008, Manny Maysonet, Assistant Director of Economic Development for the City of Aurora, went to Walter Payton's Roundhouse and claimed he found a fly in his meal. Sources say he may have wanted his meal for free as a result, but no flies were found.

He then sent the above email blast as a "health warning" to people around the city, warning them to stay away from Walter Payton's Roundhouse.

Soon after, City of Aurora's Chief of Staff Bill Wiet sent another blast saying "the city does not adopt, endorse or approve of the email..."

A subsequent inspection by the Kane County Health Department gave Walter Payton's Roundhouse high marks.

According to Scott Ascher of Walter Payton's Roundhouse, the damage was still done and now a lawsuit has been filed against Manny Maysonet, seeking over $100,000 in damages.

Fourth Ward Alderman Rick Lawrence called for the termination of Maysonet, but the extent of any disciplinary action involving Maysonet has not been disclosed by the City of Aurora.

Ascher did not include the city in his lawsuit at this time, but he says he has not received an explanation or apology.

Shortly after the incident, Ascher told the Daily Herald:

"Walter Payton's name is on this restaurant and we keep it there with as much respect as it deserves. For this guy to talk about Walter Payton's Roundhouse like that, that's where I draw the line."

Maysonet has deferred all questions to the city's so-called corporation counsel, Alayne Weingartz (aka "Alayne Scatterday" or "Alayne Filarski").

If MM is being sued personally, why would he refer questions to the City Attorney? This is one strange story, but these are all strange people!

It is losers friends like this that expose the city to huge liability issues all the time.

I hope they do sue the city and it causes the city to go bankrupt. It seems this is the only way people will wake up to the fact that weisner and his minions are the ones bring this town down.

Revolt before it is to late.

So Rick Lawrence has never had a bad day at work? Manny Maysonet made a blunder, for which he later apologized. I know him and his family--he's basically a good, hard-working man whose poor choice on one day ended up being much more public than he had anticipated.

And I doubt that this is really about loss of business. My son and I have eaten at the Roundhouse several times this year, and there were plenty of customers. Nope, this has turned into a personal vendetta. Childish and petty!

People stopped going to the roundhouse for a lot of reasons... None of which are because of an email from an incompetent city employee.

The Beacon has the scoop on this, and this blog won't even acknowledge it. They quote a Daily Herald story from a year ago.

The only scoops that the Beacon was ever capable of handling was the scoops of free ice cream donated at community events by the pretend reporters of this awful rag.

This guys job is to promote ecomonic development in Aurora. The E-Mail does accomplished the exact opposite of what he is supposed to be doing. Is this the same guy that supports giving over 2 million dollars to some bar owner so he can run some bar in rundown Downtown Aurora ? Is this the same guy that thinks tattoo parlore bring ecomonic development to Aurora ? Is this the same guy that refuses a land owner to build a hotel on his property for some unknown reason ? Why does this guy have a job at taxpayer's expense ?

I agree it's strange Maysonet is referring everything to the so-called city attorney, but even more strange is that if you really had a legal issue, why would you want Alayne Weingartz involved? She's probably the most incompetent attorney I've ever seen.

On Tuesday, the hotel license she drafted was so flawed, she hadn't even finished it and looked like a fool there. Weisner should have dumped her long ago.

Maysonet should have been fired. You can't be involved with economic development and killing biz at the same time.

Then again, this city just killed a hotel deal for Rt. 59 and the economic development consultant was helping that.

Incredible. You can't even make this stuff up, it's so bizarre.

Maybe with the exception of Chris Beykirch, the entire economic development "team" needs to be fired fast.

Does anyone know why Bill Abolt, the Hired Truck Scandal mastermind, was at the City Council meeting on Tuesday? I wasn't there, but heard he was sitting there. Doesn't Weisner know that guy is going to land him in big trouble?

I was hoping that Sherman and Manny would take the buyout. I'll never know what Weisner sees in either of them.

Waste of space and dollars.

This is a little more than a blunder. Any idiot, especially one in Manny's line of work, should know better than to send an email like that.

However, a lawsuit seems a little extreme, especially given the fact that that restaurant isn't always the cleanest place in the world.

Anyone hear about Weisner being appointed to the Tollway Commission?

Anonymous said...

Manny is economic development that is why this is so wrong and he should have been fired. I am sure this is Scott Ashor getting back at the city for Bally Doyle The city should not be paying Manny's legal bill. Plain and simple he should be fired. He has no right hurting good tax-paying business. He was just trying to make himself popular with the Mayor.

3:32pm I was not aware of the Tollway Commission appointment but saw in the Beacon a few weeks ago he was appointed by Pat Quinn to be on the Illinois Pension Board (I think that's what it is called). Weisner played the game to help Planned Parenthood "sneak" into town. Must be nice to be apart of the "Chicago Way" and the Democratic political machine.

This so-called blog website won't even acknowledge the Beacon had the scoop on this.

Is anyone still wondering why Aurora is filled with dirt bag bars, low class stores and no income residents?

Anonymous said...

How come we can't get a Harry Carey's Restaurant here in Aurora? Afterall, we are the 2nd largest city in the state.

Manny, Sherman & Ascher are all a bunch of idiots. Whats the name of that other clown down at AEDC? The younger guy with the brown hair and squeaky voice. He is an idiot too.

Anonymous said...

You're an idiot too. Takes one to know one

What a joke of a story- Ascher will win and ship every dollar of the business' funds to Florida and put a new wing on his mansion.

douche.

I guarantee you will see this tomorrow on this blog: "Update: Daily Herald reports on this important story."

No mention that the Beacon had it today.

Can't we all just get along?

Roundhouse is right to sue Manny Maysonet, but not sure why they aren't suing the city. Seems to me the city is responsible, too since Maysonet sent the health warning from city computers and has been getting legal advice from the witch of Aurora, Alayne Weingart, the city's so-called corp counsel.

Why is it that any town with a large Mexican population is a hellhole filled with Hispanic gangs, ghetto neighborhoods and loser bars? Elgin, Aurora, Carpentersville, Hanover Park and Mount Prospect. Its like they are trying to make it horrible Mexico.

Anonymous said...

If MM is being sued personally, why would he be utilizing the city attorney? Why is the city paying for this?

Anonymous said...

No city is immune from the Mexican influence. Its starting in Naperville too. The large houses there can hold many families. Brand new schools, free lunches and breakfasts and the Edwards modern ER are huge attractions.

I know Manny is on the Aurora East Committee. Then why try to hurt a the most high class business the East Side has. Why because the Mayor asked him to.

Anonymous said...

Someone should sue Scott Ascher for using Walter's name as a sheild for his unethical business practices.

Anonymous said...

MM used a city computer on city time was a city employee so Ascher should sue the city it was their responsibility to prevent such stupid actions.

Manny is involved in another type of debate. He helped Dan Hites who received hundreds of thousands of dollars from the city for down town projects and to date is behind in real estate taxes on all his downtown projects get his kid into the East Aurora Magnet school. Funny thing Dan Hites lied saying property on 20 W Downer is in D131. Dan could afford to send his kid to private school this year so the d131 formed a new program of all the white kids at O'Donnell to get a private education. They did sprinkle a few Mexicans in to make it look good. Some of the Mexicans have learned to play the game.
For those who don't know D131 has no gifted studies in elementary because they like to keep there thumb on the Mexican's. After all who would cut grass and wait tables. They do have a Magnet school for all those loser friends of the district like Dan Hites.
To bad Dan tossed out all those dollars in downtown Aurora and Weisner gave away all the Casino money. Does everyone know the Casino only benefits the city and not the schools. But back on to Manny, Dan Bariro and Clayton Mohammed helped Dan Hites commit a Class C felony by giving false info to the school.

There are Spanish in the Magnet Program and quite a few at that. I'm not a big fan of the program but it is a start but the administration could of done a better job of starting this program. I'm sure Dan Hites isn't the only parent they gave a favor too. Doesn't Kiffowits kids go to D131? I wonder if her children meet the requirements or are just lucky enough to get in.

What I find strange is that the administration cut the gifted program without the approval of the board. It is my understanding that they need to get approval to start and end programs but that is D131 where the administration runs the district not the board. If the board says anything they are told they are micro-managing.
