Chicago Expressway Fiasco Exposes Giant Hole in Chicago Metro Transit Planning

Lanes are now open on the Kennedy Expressway in downtown Chicago, but as drivers around the region were being told "stay out of downtown Chicago" on Wednesday, it exposed one of the biggest problems of our region, which is how mass transit is so disconnected between the CTA, Metra and Pace, in addition to demonstrating how quickly life can be disrupted by just one highway being closed.

We say it's time for the leaders of Illinois to stop playing budget games with Mayor Daley's crumbling and mismanaged CTA and instead create one regional transit network that allows for commuters to easily transfer between lines and modes of transit.
