Should Thomson, Illinois Become a Federal Prison?

What about Hardin, Montana?

Lets be honest - no one wants a prison in their bacak yard. No one wants to have one blocking their view. I have one near us. But thhe honest answer is - it effects us not at all. We drive past it and it is just part of the landscape - not pretty for sure, but the nasty people in there have never escaped into our community so it means little to us.

Openline - Is it true that Ms. Weingartz home is being foreclosed on. I understand that she has not paid her mortgage for some time now.
Is there any truth to this?

After the way she has treated so many people in this town and her disregard for anyones situation or ability to pay fines, I think you should report if in fact she is a dead beat.

Finally someone else noticed

Weingartz has her own legal issues.
Check Kane County Recorder of Deeds doc # 2009K074090 regarding BAC Home Loans Servicing VS. Douglas Scaterday, Alayne W(eingartz) Scatterday.

16th Judicial Circuit Case # 09CH3643.

I say YES, it should. I'm a native of that area, and it needed jobs long before this recession took hold. It's built. It's state-of-the-art. It's pretty much empty. Use it! Those guys aren't going to escape.

Notice how Dick Durbin is promoting the jobs with full benefits again, what he means by that is yet another unrealistic pension and healthcare package that tax paying citizens local, State, and federal cannot afford.

Under Federal Law..Not Military Law in which they are being governed under now at Gitmo..Each prisoner is allowed to have up to 10 visitors on a list for visitation. You mean to tell me you want Al-Quieda coming to visit these idiots in Illinois!? Leave at Gitmo!

If you want your prisoners kept in someone elses country, it's like taking your dog to your neighbors to poop.

Their our prisoners, they belong in our prisons.

Do you think that Al Queida nuts are not already in Illinois??

First, Thomson is in Illinois so do you really think that the Montana site has any chance? Especially if an Illinois Obama supporter can gain something from the federal largesse brought about by Obama.

Second, not to feel sorry for Elaine, but how many of you are on the edge financially in the present economy? It could be anyone.

If she paid attention to some case law she just might be able to beat MERS. And better yet if she paid attention to what is happening in the country she might just be able to walk away with a house free and clear.

Now given the overly generous salaries and benefits paid to city employees especially in her position, I am hard pressed to see the problem with the mortgage payments.

Exactly. She has no retirement worries as the pension system is way too generous. So given she does not have either retirement issues nor health care obligations her problem is clearly one of overspending. Let's hope she walks the plank.

I truly think that is Weingartz situation is as portrayed here, it becomes an employment issue. Most corporate employers would terminate or reassign you to a lesser position because you would be considered very vulnerable to brides and outside influences.

Given what has been posted, if true, she should be removed from her position. There is no way she can be considered detached to make the type of decisions she does in regard to companies doing business with the city etc. the reason you pay city officials outrageous salaries and benefit packages to reduce the attractiveness of bribes (that is why police are so vastly overcompensated for their skills) to them.

Weingartz is vulnerable and the city should terminate her.

The foreclosure was filed in October.

Could have happened to a better person

Thie is a no brainer. The Thomson Prison is a great proposal for Il. With the possibility of 3000 plus job and additonal revenue and contracts pumped into that economy as a result, it would be a great boon to our State during the worst of times. These are also jobs that cannot move to another country. They are here to stay. On top of that, we can recover lost revenue from the sale of the prison.

Just saw a typo in my last entry.

Since I am writing again, Let's add that Gitmo residents are not here to stay and are NOT permitted to have guests. This will eventually be a federal prison like the one in Marion. That prison also houses terrorists. Finally, let's consider that, in our country's history, nobody has ever escaped from a max security prison.

The scare tactics are inexcusable.

Scare tactics are all these people have when it comes to opposing anything and everything that comes from the Obama administration. It makes it impossible to lend credibility to those who might have credible criticisms.

The reason people oppose Obama's administration is it is headed by a lying socialist bastard who cannot string two words together without a teleprompter.
