Jury Returns No Decision on 23 of 24 Counts in Blagojevich Trial; Finds Blago Guilty on 1 Count of Lying to FBI Agents

A federal jury has found ex-Illinois Governor Rod Blagojevich guilty of one count of lying to federal agents.  The judge says he will declare a mistrial on the remaining 23 counts and prosecutors say they will redo the case.

Not bad. You were behind the "old media" Beacon News, but you did at least finally get this up. I just finished leaving a comment on the other post that it was interesting that there were NO acquittals. 1 guilty, possibly worth 5 years & $250,000, and 23 counts mistrial (would love to know what the votes were) which the feds can retry if they want. I'd say wait until sentencing -- if he gets the max, don't spend taxpayer's money to retry the other counts. If he gets a slap on the wrist, go after the others again.

five years ago rod talked with the fbi, he asked for and was refused a court reporter.

he had no defense presented.Yet he was found guilty on 1/2 of a charge, lying to the FBI.

I said it before that you can be arrested, charged, convected and sent to prison and not know any thing of the charge against you. If you believe this too be true then you win.

Rod, good luck in the future and I hope the judge throws out your conviction on this phony charge

Talking trash on the phone is not a crime. You need forensic accounting to show that a corruption type crime was committed. There was virtually none of that in the prosecution's case. 20 million dollars to re-try? The people won't go for that. Kass kept calling him "dead meat", he is alive and well. He is a great compelling campaigner. Maybe another radio show?

4:59 p.m. You know sentencing will happen after the second trial, right?

Yeah, I know sentencing will come after the second trial especially after the follow up reports indicate there was apparently a majority of guilty votes on most of the counts. At least one other major count only missed conviction by 1 vote. And again, NO acquittals on ANY counts. And 6:02, despite Rod's current claims he asked for a court reporter, in fact it was ROD'S attorney who specifically said they didn't want a reporter. He wasn't refused one, he said he didn't want one.

Hey, maybe in his second trial Blago will have the "testicular fortitude" to take the stand like HE repeatedly said he would while he was on his media blitz to influence the jury pool. Get ready, here we go again. Well, he already did Celebrity Apprentice (and got fired, of course). Maybe he can go on America's Got Talent?

Don't care how many counts found guilty on. One is enough to get him out of our faces.

Five years away for abusing his trusted position as leader of Illinois is probably not enough, but at least he's gone.

I think he is certifiably nuts, and what does that say about us who voted for him?

When will Illinois shape up?

The state of Illinois continues to be the laughing stock of the country. The former governor takes his show on the road to continue the charade. The White House continues to put on display "The Chicago Way" thug-style political incompetence not only to the nation but to the entire world, while they are still in campaign mode almost 2 years after the election. The leaders of countries that a supposed to be our allies and our enemies as well know we are in the hands of a narcissitic, self-serving indecisive person dedicated to liberal Alinsky-style, Black liberation ideology. It is indeed a very sad day in this nation as our dirty laundry is displayed for the world to laugh at.

If Blago needs a job when all this is over, he should talk to the folks at Aurora University. They're the ones who hired D131's "Serial Bully" Radakovich to teach graduate-level courses like School and Community Relations.

AU could hire Blago to teach an ethics course.

How many years was this researched? How much public money was spent? How many private conversations did the FBI listen to? Hmm...all they got him on was lying to people who wanted to put him behind bars? What a waste of time and resources.

Yeah, but the prosecutors don't care how much of OUR money they spend. They're itching to try him again, so they can ring up more millions in lawyers' fees etc.

Meanwhile, a nice job teaching ethics at Aurora University awaits Blago when this is over.
