Lollapalooza Music Festival | Lady Gaga Rises to the Big Stage

The last time Lady Gaga performed at Lollapalooza in Chicago, she was on the smallest stage.  Now, three years later, she's one of music's superstars and has returned to headline Lollapalooza in Grant Park.

Like most things in Chicago, the weekend Lollapalooza Music Festival isn't without behind-the-scenes controversy.  The Texas-based promoters hired Mayor Daley's nephew as their attorney to work out a deal that gives Lollapalooza control over a public park.  To "buy" the cooperation of park conservation folks, they will be paid $2 million.  Many other bands and music clubs have complained the promoters require an exclusivity contract that prevents them from playing anywhere else in a 300 mile radius.

Others say Lollapalooza gives a turned-in audience for the 130 bands that perform at the festival and it's a great opportunity for bands to get exposed to new fans.

Is Lollapalooza good for music and the region?  Did you go?
