Demolishing Jericho Circle | Another Step Closer

Chronic problems of Aurora's past, such as the Beacon-News above, are gradually being eliminated in Aurora.

The ongoing fiasco, also known as Jericho Circle, the public housing project run by the Aurora Housing Authority (AHA) on Aurora's near west side, is another step closer to be demolished.

The U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development agreed to the plan after AHA and Chairman Gerald Jones had failed to apply for the plan earlier this year as everyone, including West Aurora School District 129, assumed.

Now, the AHA has applied for relocation vouchers for the residents, which is estimated to take another 2 or 3 months for approval.

The government-run housing complex has been dilapidated and a chronic problem from crime to poor housing conditions for years.  Most of the housing complex fails to meet basic standards for health and housing.

Demolition is expected in 2011 and we urge the AHA not to recreate another Jericho Circle ever again.

The only problem is the residents will be spread out . Give them cash and bus or plane tickets.

Now the poor residents have to deal with Mark Smith picking their pockets. Remember he is the Faith & Family guy who bankrupted his own church.
