City of Aurora Pushes Buyouts, Salary Reductions and Layoffs to Trim Portion of 2011 Deficit

Aurora Mayor Tom Weisner has announced plans to cut labor costs by $8.4 million for 2011 with a $18 million deficit looming.

As 4th Ward Alderman Rick Lawrence has been warning for years, the wild and irresponsible spending by the Aurora City Council can no longer be sustained.

So, while wild spenders like Alderman and feminist Stephanie Kifowit, will rush to side with unions, the reality the source of the problem is not labor, the economy or even the mayor.  It's been the reckless conduct by the Aurora City Council, including its finance committee led by Alderman Bob O'Connor and wild spenders like Leroy Keith.

The city gave notice to all employees of a 10% salary reduction and options for a buyout to "minimize" layoffs and reduce costs by $8.4 million.  Employees have until October 13 to accept a buyout offer.

Commie public employee unions think they have the taxpayers by the short hairs......little do they know that the First AND THE WORST is about to send the country over the edge with his wild spending. Just follow the commie leader and it will all end badly.

Commie public employee unions

Well look at the number the union cocksuckers did at Waubonsee. They stopped working until the Government caved, gee what a surprise. And don't forget the cocksuckers on the city council voted to empower the union cocksuckers this March, right after that cocksucker Irvin empowered the minority cocksuckers; all of them are going to sodomize the taxpayers.

Dont forget the city hall asses that got pay raises. How bout the firemen that received pay raises?? Is the police chief, fire chief, mayor, and other department heads really going to take 10% pay cuts?? I don't think so. Hold everyone accountable!

Anonymous said...

Cut the police department by 20%!

Weit,Barrero,Lewis, Ergo, Nelson, Deleon and many others received big increases last year so now they are back to were they started from. Allisa Lewis and the mayor secretary just got promotions. Chuck Nelson and Dan Barriero are two screw up do nothings. If you got rid of the whole bunch the city would not even know they were gone. But then the Mayor would not have anyone around to tell him who great he is. Impeach Weisner

Anonymous said...

has anyone seen what Weisner looks like lately? Wow.....what the hell happened to that poor bastard!!??

Anonymous said...

As a City employee in the 1514 union, I can say this without remorse. I WILL NOT ACCEPT ANY CONSESSIONS..Those city leaders had over a year to get there shit in order..AND THEY DID NOTHING! They kept on spending your taxdollars as if everything was great. Take a look down there on N.Broadway...Mundy once again is getting work from Wiesner for redoing the landscape again! How many times do we need to relandscape the water pump station???????? How much money did we spend on that YWCA building, just so we can spend more money to demolish it! Where does it end??? AND NOW THOSE DUMBASSES DOWNTOWN WANT OUR UNIONS TO TAKE CONSESSIONS???? YEA RIGHT..F--K Y-U!

The problem with Aurora is too many retards in charge. And Wiesners Go Green Aurora needs to go somewhere eles. Wiesner is just another dipshit democrat trying to shove this going green bullshit up our asses again. Hey! Ask Wiesner how much it cost the taxpayer for all those banners?? the Go Green Aurora ones you see all over.

Anonymous said...

Paid 7 million for the YWCA and who knows how much to knock it down. Paid $300,000 for a building on Broadway again just to knock it down. That money alone would cut the budget by 1/3 the lose. He should give his whole pay check back including the Alderman for voting on it. Vote them all out.

Anonymous said...

THe city employees in the 1514 union do not have to accept a 10% cut...........just leave.....a fed up taxpayer.

Anonymous said...

Weisner has bankrupted the city with the constant payoff of his donor's. He belongs right next to Blago.

The payroll for the Fire Dept is a joke. You don't need that many fireman. There aren't that many fires. Where's the demand for that may firefighters? There's very little demand for there services. They wind up spending a lot of time cooking Chili and cleaning. Their Union is ripping off the taxpayers of Aurora. If Union 1514 won't take any concessions then start cutting thier jobs. I work in the private sector and I many others like me are forced to take concessions. Just because you part of some Union doesn't make you exempt for the economic realities of the present moment.

You r right on!! These guys also got a raise over two years. Check it out.....unbelievable!! Check with Toby and his good friend Tom.

Dude, the firemen are physically at work ten days a month. It's a scam and a half.

Anonymous said...

You all wait until your house is burning or your little boy can't breath. You will wish you didn't lay us off!

Anonymous said...

Quit crying. we will hire someone who wants to do the job for the right reasons.

Anonymous said...

1:04 PM..... Take your idle threats and 10 day work month and your hefty salary and pension and go tell your story walking. Over-priced crybabies getting us taxpayers to pay for their Union backed semi-scams. Don't let the door hit you in the ass on the way out.

Anonymous said...

Just remember 1:21 pm, don't call us paramedics when you're choking on that big black cock.

Anonymous said...

`We are not against paramedic and emergency response. What we question is why do you need so many non-responding officers to get it done? These jobs have piled up over the years and there is no reason why a fire department needs to be run like an army bureaucracy with so many people watching and administrating.

Also, if some of the fire dogs at the stations are laid off I am sure that we will be able to call upon you for your services and your response will be just fine.

Please don't insinuate that if lay off some of your department, that there will be charred, burned and dead bodies all over the streets of Aurora and our children will be in danger. It's just not so.

You work one day and then are off for two. The vast majority of you work second jobs and use the City's generous benefits, insurance, to cover what should be your own expenses for your family.

You can work out, read, go shopping for groceries, cook, watch television, sleep and engage in lots of firehouse boytime activities during the course of the day and build up Kelly Days in the process.

The economic conditions have changed many people's lives. Thy've needed to adjust and you guys should be no different. Give back some of your benies. Stop the ridiculous ride of being able to retire nicely at age fifty.

You make a nice salary and you ought to be able to share in the sacrifices that are going to be part of City employment not just in Aurora but everyplace in the country for a while.

Anonymous said...

Dear 1:33 p.m.. I'd like to know if you were working when you posted. Your second job doesn't count. Just if you did it from one of the fire huts and if you used your laptop or your blackberry. Just wondering.

If you take an hour or so to respond, we understand. You are probably cutting up onions for that special chili recipe you will be having tonight. Or you could be on the stair master or pumping iron while thinking of your next line of BS to feed this blog that will dramatically exaggerate reality.

Here's a novel idea you probably haven't thought of...move the hell out of Aurora.

Anonymous said...

Yes, and 90% of the city employees live outside of Aurora as well, do they not?

Maybe some day the City Workers will be required to dwell in this poor city. Until then, they will continue to draw there cushy salaries and pensions on the backs of us city dwellers.

Although I am angry and dissapointed with the current financial status of our city, as a tax payer, I am listening to some of the city employees who have brought several salient issues to my attention.

1.) Did the mayor really give pay raises to certain employees and or unions during the last two years of economic crisis? I intend to find out.

2.) Is the mayor really pursuing several projects that are non-essential in nature at the expense of the tax payer? I intend to find out.

3.) Will the mayor really be drawing a large pension upon retirment?
I intend to find out.

4.) Is the mayor really going to lay off police and firefighters? Did he reject some, or all of their concession offers?
I intend to find out.

5.) Does the mayor continue to primarily use contractors that were campaign supporters of his for projects around the city?
I intend to find out.

Well, that is all for now. Tah Tah

Moving out of Aurora is a great idea.
You save THOUSANDS on property taxes.
Aurora is being milked by insiders who know the debt will be left to minorities or anyone else too poor to escape.

Wait till the census figures come out!!!!

Anonymous said...

Tell me about it. I can't find anyone to buy my damn house!!Bought it 5 years ago for 325,000. I'm asking 219,000, which I probably wont get. Thinking of cutting and running at this point.

Too many people in Aurora City services living in Kendall County who leech off the poor hard-working people of Aurora who then have the audacity to bitch, moan and complain about their fluffy job situations and don't give a damn about the people who live here.

Anonymous said...

Be glad these city workers do not live here, else they could vote.

Anonymous said...

As a point of fact, Aurora over the years has expaned into four counties, Kane, DuPage, Will, and Kendall, so it is possible for City employees to live in Kendall County and still live in the city of Aurora.

Isn't it about that time of year to retire all the upper class fire department employees so that a new flock of 10 or 15 can be rewarded with promotions to captains and leutenants etc. That will certainly keep the retirement funds higher and the citizens broke....it happens almost every year.

0/2 1;33 post certainly lets us know who the filthey mouth city workers are who are posting on this blog, and in what department.

I learned something new when I read the Beacon concerning firemen and policemen who are sergeants, lieutenants, captains, battalion chiefs, commanders, assistant chiefs, deputy chiefs, etc. Most of them are in unions!

When you take a management job in the business world, you are not part of a union. You make a higher salary and as part of that, you get out from under the rules and protection that a union provides. In the business world, you do not get overtime, comp time or get to hide behind the other things that a union contract gives you. You can be hired, fired, transferred, etc. as determined by the owners of the company.

It's only in the public sector that management types get to have the best of both worlds.

Why do these managers need to be part of a union? Is it because if they were not, the City would get real and remove their overtime perks, work rule protection, nice sick time package, health club membership contributions and other benefits that have not not gone down as these higher salaries have gone up?

I'd also like someone to publish how much these people make annually working for the City. How many of them are working weekends when the need for emergency services can really spike? Are most of them working during the week? Or do drunken brawls, stabbings and shootings occur only between the hours of eight to five Monday through Friday.

It would also be informative to know the overtime payments they are receiving.

After that, many people might understand why they and many other City workers ought to be able to take a salary and benefit reduction.

The times are changing so please adapt.

Oh you wouldn't believe how many useless managers there are at the police dept. These captains sit around all day making "policy" with there take home cars and exorbitant salary. The Chief himself is at a conference in France, yes France!! I talk to these guys at the car wash. and from what I hear, there are a whole bunch of overpaid managers who never leave the building. Time to downsize, and do more with less people. Mayor, don't give in to these elites. Change the power structure and downsize. It is the only way!

God Bless

Dear 6:34 p.m. from yesterday.

Really want to thank you for responding. We noticed that it took you a couple of hours for you to get back to us. We understand completely. Just as we thought, you were slicing up onions for the 'chili nite special.' Hope it was tasty, or was last nite pasta nite or burgers on the veranda. With so many food choices, it gets confusing. Let's just hope that all of those nice meals that you have been cooking and eating while getting paid clear up your mind and thought processes. Healthy food can go a long ways toward helping you clean up your dirty comments and nastiness. We also hope that you enjoyed the ride home this morning past the peaceful cornfields, prairie and woods as you made your way back to your idyllic home in unincorporated Kendall, LaSalle or Ogle County.

Why is the Chief in France spending our hard-earned money? The City is 18 million dollars in the hole and he's off sipping champagne and eating caviar. That's the height of arrogance. I guess he thought no one would dare question him. That's the way things are done at APD. They do what they want....like abuse overtime and protect their in-house thugs.

What's that I hear...by jove it's the voice of a green-eyed monster.

p.s. Yes, all the boys said the chili was just delicious.

Anonymous said...

I did some checking. The Police Chief really is in France!! Un f#$%& believable!!

Anonymous said...

Are we paying for this trip or is it a personal vacation?

Anonymous said...

It seems that the City workers that I see walking on the sidewalks, driving in cars and supposedly working always have cell phones attached to their ears. Are they in constant communication on City business or are these personal phone calls with their friends and families. The way that many of them laugh and carry on while they are on these calls, it sure doesn't look like the calls are business. Inquiring minds want to know. If they are really as valuable to the City work force as they claim they are in these posts, then they need to put the phones down and get more serious.

Anonymous said...

Oh no, he is there on some type of police chief function, seminar or conference.

Anonymous said...

Take a guess on what percent of firemen live in the City. Policemen? Are they even a political force any longer. We know that policemen can complain and moan, but are either of these departments any kind of political force in Aurora anymore.

Anonymous said...

I don't think any of the city departments were a political force. The point is that there are too many employees, period. Time to cut!

Anonymous said...

Did you read about the chief being in France in the Beacon?

Anonymous said...

If the Chief went to France on the taxpayer dime, then he should be forced to repay every cent for his arrogant luxury trip. C'mon man, wake and smell the F'n coffee.

How much money has the City spent on that house that was moved over on Downer? I wonder if it will ever be sold. Moves like that really cause the public to have great confidence in the fiscal decision making ability of the City which amounts to the collective knowledge of all of the kindergarten classes in town. What a dumb idea that was.

yes the chief was in France but not at taxpayer expense. the city should be proud that our chief was selected from among the thousands of chiefs nation wide but no all you do is complain. you complainers are not worth the paper i use to wipe my ...
