Election 2011 Here It Goes Again | Wild Spenders of Aurora City Council Can Be Replaced If You Run Fast

As the City of Aurora finds itself in a fiscal crisis with an estimated $18 million deficit, regardless of who is mayor or which way the economic winds blow, the primary reason for the fiscal situation is the wild spending by the reckless and irresponsible Aurora City Council.

Since 2005, 4th Ward Alderman Rick Lawrence has been the ONLY consistent voice protecting taxpayers, asking questions and warning of the consequences of continued wild spending.

From the drive-in theater fiasco to raising taxes/fees to Planned Parenthood to wild spending, the Aurora City Council is responsible and it's to you to hold them accountable.

Starting this coming Monday through November 22, candidates can start filing petitions to replace the wild spenders.  We URGE our viewers to encourage others to speak up and run for open city council seats so there are choices.

Ward 1 - currently occupied by wild spender Abby Schuler
-northeast section of city
-was part of irresponsible finance committee

Ward 3 - currently occupied by wild spender party girl Stephanie Kifowit
-near east side, including old Copley Hospital
-nominee for the worst alderman in Aurora's history
-spends taxpayer money on parties and political ambitions
-strongly supports sex discrimination for elected officials
-finished dead last in mayoral campaign
-can easily be beat and should never be elected to anything

Ward 5 - currently occupied by John "Whitey" Peters.
-far west side and can be easily beat
-running only because he has nothing else to do

Ward 6 - currently occupied by Mike Saville
-near northwest side (Mercy Center, Lake Street)
-served many terms, but ward has seen no improvement

Ward 8 - currently occupied by wild spender Rick Mervine
-replaced Chris Beykirch
-made irresponsible votes including against Rt 59 hotel deal
-we urge Chris Beykirch to reclaim his old seat

Alderman-at-large - currently occupied by Richard Irvin
-ran and lost for mayor in 2005 and 2009
-finished ahead of party girl Kifowit

All these candidates are easily beatable.

If Kifowit, Peters, Schuler and Mervine could be replaced, that would be a giant positive thing for Aurora.

Anonymous said...

The guy that may be running against Peters is an ex-cop and current cop, so even though Peter's is useless all we need is another lifelong blood sucker steering the treasury.

OK all of you openline bloggers with your great ideas - it is put-up or shut-up time.

Circulate your petirion and put your name on the ballot. This is your opportunity to show the courage of your convictions.

When is Lawerence up for re-election. He needs to go.

Rick is the finest Alderman on the city council by a vast sweeping margin. And while I will not go so far as to say anyone who does not support Rick is gay, I will say, if you do not support Rick you are probably the type of man that enjoys sexually pleasing other men.

I hear Lauzen is out talking it up that he is running for Mayor.

Anonymous said...

Great, all we need is a cop on city council. Please.....Nooooooooooo!!

Anonymous said...

I'd rather have a cop than a sexist, homophobic bigot.

You don't mean Peters. His son is a fag and he is repentant now on that issue.

If I have my way, Lawrence would be mayor of this city, maybe he would stop all this spending, Lawrence and Wiesner have had major diffrences in the past because Wiesner likes to spend and Lawrence always asks him why? and why do we need this? I think Rick lawrence should be our next mayor. Ask Wiesner how much monies where wasted on that franklin/Covey WIG Program...you taxpayers would be shocked!

Lauzen has never learned to play well with others. This is the guy that got into an altercation with his son's football coach over the amount of play time his son was given.

It is common knowledge that Lauzen is known for his screaming matches with those who disagree with him.

In his many years in Springfield he has not risen to any position of leadership nor can he point to any major legislation that he has authored.

Lauzen has been against everything and accomplished nothing

Lauzen as mayor would be a disaster

Abby is running unopposed. Challengers know that they don't stand a chance to win. Why? Abby goes to St. Joe's and so does 90% of Pigeon Hill residents.

Anonymous said...

The carpetbagger Matt Harrington lives in Kifowit's ward, wonder why he did not run against her - because he is another tax and spend liberal.

Stephanie care about her constituents of her ward and the city in general. She deserves to be re-elected as their hasn't been a better alderperson of any other ward.

LOL - now that is funny!

Anonymous said...

Weisner is also famous for streaming at the residents who elected him. He is a wild spender and needs to go but if all his croonies are re-elected not a chance he will go. Lauzen is fiscally conservative thats what the city needs.

Anonymous said...

At this point, Il take anybody other than Wiesner, hell I would vote for Rosario deleon before wiesner!!!

Anonymous said...

I went to a meeting the other week and heard a presentation on the East Aurora School System. They stated they had 68 million in the bank. How could that be. When questioned they said they get a alot of grants. What has Weisner done with all the grant money he gets. I know gives it to Wally Munday.

Anonymous said...

Weis-ass is not running again his pals are out saying he only wanted to be a two term Mayor. It will be between Linda Chapa Lablago & Lauzen. They screwed up Springfield now they are looking to screw up Aurora even more.

Anonymous said...

How transparent can you get. Openline is bashing anybody but Lawrence -- ESPECIALLY anybody who might be a strong candidate against him in his run for mayor. Funny how others on the council are bashed over the "drive in fiasco". Uh, didn't Rick Lawrence ALSO vote to turn a profit-making business, which could have generated revenue for the city, into a weed overgrown vacant lot?

Anonymous said...

I believe Rick voted no on that.

Anonymous said...

The Drive in was a fiasco. Not to mention Bigalow walked with-out paying the East Aurora School system a dime. Currently Allen School has over 1000 students and Dietrich isor that over crowded along with Cowherd Middle School and the High School. All of the Alderman voted fiasco.

Anonymous said...

Batavia is returning some of the workers wages to their employees and not having any lay-offs this shows it can be done. The Mayor and current group of Alderman are responsible the current group needs to be voted out even if Donald Duck runs he would have more common sense.

Anonymous said...

Batavia is returning some of the workers wages to their employees and not having any lay-offs

So you don't think we have too many city workers? Since new construction has ground to a halt you don't think anyone associated with inspections or permits needs to go? Magically with revenue down because of that, they have meaningful work and should stay on the payroll?

Anonymous said...

Now is the time to have a serious discussion: D we need 12 aldermen, or could we get along just fine with half that many?

Anonymous said...

Chapa is a joke.

Lauzen is better but has made mistakes, haven't we all. I think he should stay in Springfield, but If that meant Chapa taking city hall, I would want Lauzen to run for mayor.

Kifowit needs to go! The problem is that there isn't someone in that ward who can win who would be better. There are some who are better but that ward is so blue, a conservative can't get elected. She got elected by acting like a conservative, but the longer she has been in office and the more 'hungry for higher office she gets' the further she leans left.

Irvin will have trouble keeping his seat, as will Whitey. Irvin has been a disappointment. Whitey has to go!

Lawrence is good, but until we have a few more on the council who grow a pair, he can't do it alone.

Anonymous said...

The first Aldermen that we could do without would be Wanny Garza, dont need her at all...another mexican fatass, next would be Rick mirvine.

18 million dollars in the hole is nothing a couple of more red light cameras couldn't take care of. Maybe the police could just start stopping random motorist and collecting a "You're in Aurora fine". How about a couple of brothels, or tattoo shops to cater to all the truckers who seem to overnight in every empty parking lat in the city. The possibilities are endless for revenue collecting in Aurora.

WOW I guess this person hasn't see the many you tube video's of Matt Harrington to call him a Tax and Spend liberal is so far out of reality it make me laugh. Matt Harrington is one of the founding members of the DuPage TeaParty. He is far from a Tax and Spend Liberal.

And I guess this person whom have made the Anonymous Comment of he lives in the 3 ward. have you not read the many news articles ? he live on the Far east-side which would be the 9th ward.. you should learn where the wards are.

And to call Matt Harrington a Carpetbagger is a badge of honor. I much rather have a man from the outside with freash ideas and vision then the clowns that want to run just so they and be the mayor buddy.

We in the 9th,8th 4th and 2nd wards BACK MATT for Aurora's Alderman at Large in 2011. We will work on getting rid of the Mayor on the next election.

Go Matt Go. it's your to win.

Come out of your basements, put a name to your statements and defend them in a public forum.

Kifonitwhit could be beat by Jeniffer Lasesh but rumor is she is running for the East Aurora School Board. She has no children going to the District and no interest in it. So why run my guess is learn school finance and run against Lablago.

Get rid of Lawrence...he's a big mouth do nothing...needs to go...

Anonymous said...

Lawrence is a do nothing? Are you nuts? He has done more for his Ward and the people of Aurora than any Alderman I can recall - ever.

I do not agree with him or everything, but there has never been a harder worker on the Council in my lifetime.

Yeah a Matt is really a conservative. the city finally makes a decent decision and states the festival at Phillips park is too costly in a time when we are contemplating laying off needed police officers and Matt "the conservative/tea partier" Harrington goes whining to the council and helps them restore the festival from the public treasury. Brilliant - what a conservative position. Wasting tax payer money on a holiday display instead of funding police officers.

I happen to be at the city council,
when Matt spoke, asking them to put up 2,000 from each of the alderman. Matt said that he would cover the balance out of his own pocket.

He and Rick both agree that this is a vital to a community heart and soul as well as a small economic driver for the local business. When something bring into town a large amount of people
whom want to spend monies then what is the down side.

But the city spends 137,000 on new cop cars and now want to layoff 20 to 25 police... PLEASE get real !!!

I cant wait to see Matt Harrington elected and the tax and spend alderman ousted from office.

This is why you are going to big loss against a man like Matt Harrington.

I should know I went against him once before and I had my clock cleaned.

Matt is no joke, he hits you hard and fast and many many time on issues. Issues that he has been pushing in our state for years.

Matt Harrington is my choice for Aurora’s Alderman at Large in 2011.

I look to Mr. Harrington to bringing on fresh changes to the Aurora township government and revitalized Aurora’s economic state.

I hope Mr. Harrington can assist the city council in eliminating the current deficit. Why do I believe he is the right person for this job? First of all,

Mr. Harrington had years of experience in the financial sector. Before he became a campaign consultant, he was a financial officer for one of the premiere banks in the Chicagoland.

He is fiscally conservative and responsible. And,most importantly, made lowering tax costs is his top priority for Aurorians.

Mr.Harrington is like you and I. He understands the basics of our everyday issues and hardships and what are important at the local levels.

Mr.Harrington will work hard to bring jobs back to the community.
He knows that we worry for our children’s safety, our concerns of our job stabilities, our struggles to manage our senior care and households, and many more.

Mr. Harrington is also one that I admire. If you don’t know the man, then please read up on his blog on his many life saving efforts.

I was truly touched to learn that Mr.Harrington was a kidney donor to a stranger in 2005.

He has helped and rescued strangers from burning buildings in many heroic acts.

These sum up the kind of person that Mr. Matt Harrington is. I don’t think I have met nor seen any others who are selfless and willing to help others in need.

If you don’t know the man, get to know him. You will see he is your CHOICE too.

I hope you will elect him so that he can bring fore a brighter and better future for Aurora and her people.

it appears that the Back Matt campaign doesn't know how to work the comment function or they want to repeat themselves because no one really cares if the guy gave a kidney. I have read of many people who do that.

Irvin will be a shoe in, with so many people running he only needs 25% of the vote to win without a primary. Eliminating the primary was a way for the State Legislature to ensure incumbents stay in office at the municipal level.

Anonymous said...

So, Openline where are your followers? Pathetic Rick Lawrence loving blog you have turned into.

REGARDING THE COMMENT BELOW:
You are right many people have given a kidney to people before.

But their are over 80,000 people wait still and most will never make it. And you are so right Mr. Irvin, with that many people in the race if everyone gets an equal of votes 25% would be a tie. So all you need is 26%+ to win.

But Matt is polling at 68% against you as well as the others.

At less that is what came from a local union tracking independent source.

So Aurora if you like to keep getting sucked dry and now have the Police and Fire Department gutted. Like the way Mr. Irvin and the Mayor wants to do. Vote for them, But if you want an independent thinker a person whom has show that he care for the community he lives in.

Then BACK MATT HARRINGTON for Aurora's Alderman at Large.

Next Time Richard, you might have guts to put your name on your comment.

But We doubt that you will ever have a true backbone of your own.

Go Matt Go....
