Aurora Police Need Your Help To Solve White Castle Mystery | Harold and Kumar Coming Soon...?

Stunning.  Shocking.  A mystery with movie potential.

A theft at the White Castle in Aurora on Rt. 59.

No, they didn't take any sliders.  Or get an unauthorized refill of a drink.

It's much worse...

They took a 4' x 4' "White Castle Open 24 Hours" neon glass sign from INSIDE the White Castle.

According to the Aurora Police Department:

"On 1/22/12 at approx. 0332 hrs. the above subjects arrived at White Castle (444 N. Rt. 59) in the above black SUV.  The subjects entered White Castle and a purchase (with cash) was made.  Two of the three subjects removed a 4' X 4' "White Castle open 24 hours" neon glass sign from a window inside of White Castle.  The subjects exited White Castle, with the sign, and the sign was put in the SUV.  The subjects entered the SUV and drove away towards Rt. 59.  If you have any information on the subjects or SUV please contact Det. Dieser @630.256-5542."

Yes, really.

They took the neon sign from inside the White Castle.

Is this inspired by the movie "Harold and Kumar go to White Castle" or just a random act of obsessed White Castle fans who crave sliders?

OpenlineBlog is offering a reward for information that will help solve the mystery at White Castle.

REWARD
FOR INFORMATION TO SOLVE
THE WHITE CASTLE MYSTERY
Whatever you Crave at White Castle for 4 people for 4 visits (dine-in only).
(all expenses will be paid out of the pocket of the APD's so-called spokesman, Dan Ferreli)

Let's not take chances of this happening again, so we urge Chief Greg Thomas to immediately assign red-light camera scheme czar Joe Groom to be stationed at the White Castle itself until this mystery is solved.

We cannot figure out what Mr. Groom does that it's in the best interest of taxpayers, so this is finally a chance for him to do something...anything constructive.

Not only he should be there inside, but he should serve customers undercover, wearing the White Castle uniform, but of course, also wearing the APD badge (not the hat...sorry Joe).

Also, we are investigating why the report is dated February 25, 2012 but claims the incident was "1/22/12."  We assume that somewhere within the $145 million (at taxpayer expense) Aurora Police Palace, there's a good explanation for that very wide gap, kind of like the wasted space in the new headquarters.

If you have any information that can help solve the mystery at White Castle, please let us know at openlineblog@gmail.com.

IMPORTANT NOTE:  If you see anyone resembling unusual behavior like this below in a black SUV with a 4x4 White Castle sign, do not try to apprehend them.  Instead, call 9-1-1.  The city's new $15 million digital emergency communication system sometimes works and sometimes doesn't work so well, but we have been assured that sooner or later, they will get the message to a patrol officer.

this is too funny. I don't know whether to laugh at the idea some guys took a White Castle neon sign or that the APD put a flier seeking the public's help.

I crave sliders. I say we invite Harold and Kumar to come to Aurora!

APD is not very good at finding missing people....but how are they at finding missing fast food signs?

They couldn't find Marilyn Bethell or Laurie May.......I don't think that sign will ever be recovered.

I'm not from Aurora. $145 million for a police headquarters? Didn't it cost more to build the United Center???

Don't forget Groom's other claim to fame. He was the main police guy involved with the horrible design of the police palace.

If anyone from the APD sees this, I would like to suggest they offer a reward for anyone to turn in corrupt, stupid or incompetent city employees.

There are a LOT of suspects and they could actually use all that wasted space at the police palace if they really wanted to go after the crime that affects real people.

Wow. You're actually all over the cops for trying to do their jobs? They put out a flier, and are at least trying to do something to find the sign (which I doubt will ever be found), and you're all over them? What about the totally incompetent boobs working at the store that let someone walk out w/ a neon sign under their noses? I mean, come on, it's not like they stole a salt shaker or something! This flyer shouldn't have been needed, because the idiots working in the store should have spotted this right away and either stopped the guys or called the cops right then!

Why is it that I think that APD is more concerned with enhancing revenues than they are with finding missing things?

Overpaid Aurora Cop = 150k a yer salary and benefits

verses

White Castle Employee = 18K year salary and benefits

Yeah blame those 8.65 an hour employees

Okay then, 11:15, based on your reasoning, Speaker of the House Boehner gets paid more than the cops. So I guess it's his fault.

Hey, who's in charge of APD really and calls all the shots.

Hint: His first name is Tommy
