Aurora Residents Fight Bed Bug Invasion for More Than a Year; Only After Media Attention, City of Aurora Says They Will Look Into It...Another Blunder for Aurora Housing Authority?

Residents at the Forest Ridge apartment complex have been complaining about bed bugs for over a year with no response from property management or the City of Aurora.

Forest Ridge, which has many Section 8 voucher residents, is supposed to have been inspected by the Aurora Housing Authority (AHA) as part of the process, according to city officials.

As most of our local viewers already know, AHA, America's Worst Slumlord, has been blasted by the community for forcing people to live in substandard, deplorable living conditions, including its own properties.

Aurora Alderman Rick Lawrence, who has been leading the efforts to address these chronic problems associated with substandard housing conditions on the west side in his ward such as Jericho Circle, says it would be disappointing to learn if AHA, the city or anyone had been aware of these problems at Forest Ridge on the east side, but failed to resolve the problem.

One resident said she reported the problems to both AHA and the City of Aurora, but nothing was done.  She said she and other residents at Forest Ridge bring a gift of bed bugs to Aurora Mayor Tom Weisner and AHA Board Chairman Little Al Schuler for overseeing and expanding cheap and substandard housing in Aurora.

The bed bugs go along with tuberculosis, leprosy, legionaries disease, hepatitis A that has been introduced to this community via Hesed House, another pet project of the Mayor.

I use to live at Forest Ridge Apartments and I had to deal with this same issue. They not only have bed bugs, they also have roaches, and mice. I called the Aurora Health Department on them numerous of times. The bed bugs had gotten so bad my kids and I had bumps from the bites on our arms and legs. Rosina and Drew the Property Managers, were made aware of these issues and they refused to do anything. My children and I had to stay in a hotel for almost a month. And just three months ago I was finally able to move away from there. Those apartments need to be tore down and rebuilt. Because it is just too much infestation for them to hire someone to come out and get rid of all of the rodents and bugs they have.

It is REALLY SAD SOME OF US PAY RENT AND REPAIRS ARE NOT DONE .. I AM NOT AWARE OF BEDBUGS IN MY APARTMENT YET ... BUT I HAVE SEEN DUMPSTERS FULL OF FURNITURE AND GARBAGE BAGS DUE TO THIS PROBLEM.. THE SAD PART IS HOW CAN WE AFFORD NEW FURNITURE OR CLOTHES.. THERE'S NO REIMBURSEMENT ..ITS NOT OUR FAULT THESE BUILDINGS HAVE MOLD, MILDEW, MICE, ROACHES AND NOW BED BUGS.. I THINK THEY WILL NOT GET RID OF IT TILL EVERYONE MOVES AND THEY REDUE ALL OF THE WORK. CARPET AS OLD AS THE BUILDINGS HOLES IN WALLS FROM MICES WHEN DOES IT STOP EQUAL OPPORTUNITY FOR INFECTION...

Aurora has such wrong priorities. Mayor Weisner is trying to expand cheap housing but how about we instead fix the crappy housing we have all over this city?

These infested properties are just another accomplishment and great symbol of the Weisner regime.

Who brought in the bedbugs, the management or the AHA? Oh, neither...

Bed bugs are invading not just Aurora. Some estimates say that US bed bug infestations have risen 500% in the last few years. One way to fight back is with bed covers for bed bugs. Keep checking your linens and dont let the bed bugs bite.
