East Aurora School District Rejects Aurora-Based Alarm Detection Services (ADS) Security Contract Bid Over $236

East Aurora School District 131 has rejected a three-year security contract bid from Aurora-based Alarm Detection Services (ADS) and instead went with the lowest bid from Elgin-based Fox Valley Fire and Safety (FVFS).

ADS Bid.....$62,326
FVFS Bid...$62,100

The difference of $236 is small, with one bid being rounded yet another one exact.

Former Aurora Alderman Chris Beykirch, who now works for ADS, urged the East Aurora School Board to reconsider the motion being a local company, contributing various services to the district and paying significant taxes.

Not taken into account that ADS is a company located in the district and is probably the largest taxpayer they have. Or the fact all of the donation ADS has given the district.

$80.00 per year give it to an Elgin Co. Any connection between President Johnson and this Co. ?

Low bid is low bid.

If the bidding is honest.

Is the city required to accept the lowest bid? Are there no other factors to consider?

What if the lowest bidder is sleazy?

It is a political thing. Look at the contributions the owner of ADS contributes to Republicans. Given the difference in BBB rating most consider the potential delivery ability a factor when awarding contracts.

Some of the comments on the East Aurora blog are that both companies are highly rated by the BBB, but did point out that ADS has had some lawsuit issues that the other company hasn't.

As far as anything Chris Beykirch says, remember he's a paid mouthpiece. He'll say anything to get what he wants. Just like when he was on the council.

I think the other company actually had complaints that ADS did not - not the other way around.

Chris Beykirch is an idiot.

Alarm Detection is a big suppoen submitting otherrter of Tommy Weisner shocking the East Aurora Board would break the old boys club in Aurora but it just takes one and now everybody will think twice when bidding on other projects.

Both companies had A Plus ratings from Better Business. They excepted the lowest bid what is the problem. Lets see who the lowest bidder is on the Magnet School

So they pay taxes only $60,000 per year for all that property. They also have every contract in Aurora. I pay taxes also but nobody gives me contracts to pay my bills.

Beykirch is a Idiot and a paid mouthpiece for Weisner that is where loser Alderman go to ADS. Lets not forget Bob Sheldon as well

Congrads to the Board maybe other Boards will step up and end pay to play

Some honest company for their ????donations??? to the school they received many no bid contracts and still have the Fire and Burglar alarm business. If you read this it is only Sprinkler testing. They are still getting about $300,000 from d131. The nerve of Beyrich. A real loser who used his job as alderman along with Bob Sheldon to get a job.

This honest company got no bid door systems money and always got contracts by Beyrichs own words at a meeting that they had also been the second or third highest bidder.

This honest company also bought votes by donating HGTV's and video game decks to the school in return for a I voted sticker during the last referendum.

Now if we could only gets other boards to follow the same system maybe politics would not be a dirty profession.

This is where I get my news - anything on the alderman arrested for burglary on here?

Wonder if the house Lawrence broke into had an ADS alarm?

Lawrence asked mayor's office to help clean up a problem in his ward. Mayor's office cooperated and look what it got them - complicity in a residential burglary.

No wonder the Mayor's office is cautious when Lawrence gets involved. Lawrence needs to learn to think before he acts. He is like a bull in a china shop. Perhaps he will learn from this experience

Wonder if Ofc. O'Brien is told to arrest Ald. Lawrence

Uh, can you people flesh out this Lawrence burglar thing. What are you talking about?

The law requires the School District to accept the low bid. In fact, courts have decided that making a decision on whether a company is local is illegal. So, rather than being shocked and horrified, perhaps we should all be happy they are following the law. But, probably not because everyone likes worship at the feet of ADS.

If it's the law to accept the lowest bid, someone should inform Ms. Johnson. It is not reflected in the minutes, but at the May 7 meeting where they took a higher transportation bid, she stated that they did NOT have to take the lowest bid.

Maybe your daughter should get sexually abused taking the Special Ed bus The bus bid and Fire Safety bid are not the same. I was part of a group that waged war in 129 over Richlee get your facts straight.
