Aurora Public Library employees staged an informational picket at the Eola Road branch on Sunday, complaining about the lack of a contract and labor tensions with the library.
All of this is happening at the same time the library has increased taxes, has cash stashed and has rewarded contracts to various cronies of Mayor Tom Weisner who have exploited taxpayers in several taxpayer-funded projects.
About 100 employees such as custodians, clerks and bookmobile drivers (yes, they still have bookmobile drivers for some reason) are represented by AFSCME Local 2283.
A union employee told us, "we find it interesting the library has failed to come up with a contract deal since January, but had no problem making deals with corrupt friends of the mayor, such as Wegman Construction (contractor), Cordogan Clark (design) and Vicki Morcos (furnishings) for a traditional building that neither the public nor employees have had input for."
Meanwhile, library spokesgirl Amy F. Roth, who fully supports corruption and taxpayer exploitation, would not respond to questions from the union.

not a fan of any public employees asking for money, but it's a good point. How did the library do deals to reward Weisner's cronies but ignored the contract with employees?
Why do they deserve a contract? Do they have a job? Do they still get a paycheck? The highest skilled of them are actual people with degrees in library science a field that has a plethora of unemployed graduates. They could all quit and be replaced and no one would notice or care.
All a union is, is a gang of thugs that cannot compete in a globalized economy.
Take a look at that ugly fat broad in the Beacon holding that disgusting sign? Clearly she does not want to work for the library any longer. Nice sign to have in front of children. There is no loss here if they are replaced. And why should we have to cover the medical cost of that obese whale? And have you ever seen most library employees? Most are vastly overweight and their medical care must cost a fortune.
If they walk, and I doubt most could make it more than 25 feet before they need an oxygen tank, I say good riddance.
Reference: a sign that says "I would rather eat (then a drawing) than work for 'em"
Wow, speaking as one of those overweight, obese whales, I must say that you must be a very brave individual to point out to us what we already look at in the mirror, right? How good of you to tell us that we are whales. As if we already don't have issues with our self-esteem and might've already attempted to lose weight or maybe some of us have medical conditions that hinder the weight loss that we so need to please your eyes. How kind of you sir to bully people that you don't know or probably would never have the guts to say such mean, hurtful things to. I'll tell you what, why don't you visit the Eola Road Branch, where the picket took place and say this to our faces? It takes some brass you-know-whats to publish your comments anonymously.
Speaking only for myself, you must lead a sad life to comment on people you know nothing about. I don't think at any point in your comment did you mention anything about the picket, it was just your chance to be a troll and hurt someone's feelings because you don't have the guts to say it to their face. I pity you.
To anonymous, I have to say WOW!!! Open mouth put foot in!!! Did you know most of us are part- time workers who work 2-3 jobs to make ends meet and some of us are single parents! Just to let you know I can walk circles around you any time you want!!! I may look like a whale to you but to real people who matter I am BEAUTIFUL! I could get nasty and say stupid stuff but.... I am Better then you and I feel sorry for you!!
To Joanna...look into a stomach band procedure...it may be a good alternative
1:26 look into having your mouth sewn shut. It may cut down on putting your foot in it w/ mean, nasty, and hateful statements. And I'm NOT one of the library employees.
Does anybody here realize that when the Library wanted to issue an open request for qualifications for architects for their new building, the Mayor told the library director that the project would not be funded unless Cordogan Clark is the architect? Cordogan Clark has almost no library experience - and their one major library building in Glen Ellyn needed several million dollars in exterior repairs. INVESTIGATE!!!!
