RICK LAWRENCE ANNOUNCES CANDIDACY
FOR ALDERMAN-AT-LARGE FOR CITY OF AURORA
------------------------------ ------------------------------ --------------------
EXPANDING EFFORTS TO IMPROVE NEIGHBORHOODS AND STANDING UP
FOR TAXPAYERS ACROSS THE SECOND LARGEST CITY IN ILLINOIS
(Aurora, Illinois) - Alderman Rick Lawrence has announced he will be a 2013 candidate for Alderman-at-Large for Aurora, second largest city of Illinois, to expand the successful efforts with taxpayers, schools, police and businesses citywide to address chronic problems, create aggressive solutions and make all of Aurora a better place to live for our families and future.
Lawrence said, "After making this decision with my family and taxpayers of the 4th Ward, and given the gerrymandering of the ward boundaries, we have decided the best way to continue to operate my business and to provide for my employees, yet continue to serve the 4th Ward and expand our efforts across the city is to ask the people of Aurora for the opportunity to serve as Alderman-at-Large."
"Over the past 7 1/2 years, together with neighbors, we have addressed complex problems and negative impacts to our quality of life in the 4th Ward such as the Aurora Housing Authority (AHA) and Jericho Circle, wild spending by this administration, building a strong relationship between neighbors and our police while focusing on issues that burden our schools."
"As Alderman-at-Large, I will continue to stand up for taxpayers, ask the important questions, speak up and protect our tax dollars, while continuing to focus on improving the quality of life here in Aurora."

This is great news! I can't wait to see Rick sitting right next to Tom Weisner :)
Good luck to Mr. Lawrence. If he wins it will put him in good position to run and possibly win the job of Aurora Mayor down the road.
Who will he be running against? Irvin or Bob-L-Head?
Very interesting. First, of course only a press release from Rick Lawrence would be published in Openline verbatim w/o editing or commenting. Second, will he actually stay in this race? Third, IF he stays in the race, and IF he wins, how does this change the status quo of the council? Will he be any more effective? He'll still be one voice and one vote.
Is O'Connor running?
Can he Beat O'Connor?
god save us all, what an embarrassment.
I guess if he wins you can not just blame one ward for this mistake.
Does anyone know if Kevin Matthews is running for at large again? He seemed to be "a class" act.
O'Connor vs. Lawrence. Now there's a race that will be most telling for Rick.
Will the next FireChief be a resident of the City of Aurora or will they live in a place where the Township is sweet as Sugar? Will the Chief find The City second to other places?
Will the next Police CFhief live in Aurora? Many of the ranking officers in the police department live outside the city.
Candidates for Mayor and alderman should pledge that Aurora residency will be a requirement for the next police and fire chiefs.
I await the candidates answers.
Can anyone dispute the fact that there are too many lieutenants, captains, assistant chiefs, deputy chiefs in both departments? Their ranks are layered like fine bacon.
Is it written somewhere that chiefs have to live in the city? If not, why are they any different than the rest of the police and fire if they are the most qualified? Just wondering.
Have one of the assistant chiefs, the deputy dog, one of the lieutenants or a commander research it and get back to you on it.
I figured someone on this blog would know, there seem to be many experts on running the police and fire departments.
So for fire
Yes for fire chiefie
Who wins vs. O'Connor?
How come noone has brought up the aurora township supervisor primary? Id love to know what ppl think.
One guy running has a big brain but township government is a dinosaur. Yabba dab a doooooooo! Go Fred!
Yeah, a big brain that's been pickled in booze.
Why would I want an Alderman-at-Large who votes to spend $12,000 just because he doesn't feel like arguing?
"As Alderman-at-Large, I will continue to stand up for taxpayers, ask the important questions, speak up and protect our tax dollars, while continuing to focus on improving the quality of life here in Aurora."
And how does giving Stedman $12,000 to come here to speak at two schools fit in with this? How did you "speak up and protect our tax dollars" when you voted IN FAVOR of this expenditure just because you didn't feel like arguing?
Sorry, Rick, you're busted. About to become the former Alderman of 4th ward, and following this vote and some of your other recent fiascos, highly unlikely to become Alderman-at-Large.
