As the community holds vigils and mourns the tragic death of 18 year old Abigail Villalpando, politicians are still celebrating and backslapping themselves over a "zero murder" stat from last year with "reckless disregard and disrespect to the family, community and common sense" according to family and friends of the victim.
Aurora Mayor Tom Weisner, State Rep Linda Chapa-LaVia, Police Chief Greg Thomas and Stephanie Kifowit smiled and celebrated for the photo-op, happy to exploit crime and murder.
Meanwhile, Alderman Richard Irvin, says he will be the attorney for the suspect accused in being an accomplice to burning the body after the tragic murder. Although he campaigned twice for mayor touting his experience as an attorney, he now claims being an attorney and an elected official have nothing to do with each other.
Under Weisner's direction, the Aurora Police also recently covered-up the shooting of six teens because it would interfere in a publicity spree the mayor and police chief were on taking credit for the "zero murder" stat last year and a $150,000 bonus scheme.
We urge the community to speak up at the next Aurora City Council meeting on Tuesday, February 26th and demand these politicians and the police chief apologize for playing games with murder and/or resign.

I already knew Tom Weisner and Stephanie Kifowit were rotten but over the last few days between this and the restaurant row scheme, I'm starting to realize that either Linda Chapa is just as foolish or I was fooled by her all this time.

Linda was always a crook. But Aurora does not have a real newspaper. The Wiz steals the City blind and Linda steals the Township blind. Both use government funds as heir own political slush funds. Lulay has been given many tips with regards to this and she chooses to look the other way. My guess is John Russell has strong armed her. When have you seen a report on the spending of the Township.
Linda controls the general funds. Realize this if you are in financial need and can't pay your rent. GOto Linda's office and they send you right over to Campos.
The Mayor uses Community in Schools to run his social service programs. Follow the money.

If they want to "own" the issue of violent crime in Aurora, then maybe they would like to explain to the public how they are responsible for a crime statistic. How does the Mayor influence whether or not some young man/gangster decides to shoot someone? How does someone who takes $900,000 from Mike Madigan have any influence on whether or not some house gets shot up? It's good that their is a reduction in homicides. There still are areas of Aurora that I will not drive through.....too many young guys hanging out with their homeboys trying to look hard or with a real cocky smirk on their faces bothering people who are going about their business. If want to "own" the issue, then you've got to own the downside, too.

The political clowns should resign and so should Greg Thomas. If he wants to play with politicians, he should take off his badge and uniform and wear a clown suit.

If Greg Thomas has any self-respect, he would resign. I would say that about the others, Weisner, Chapa and Kifowit, but I already know they have no self-respect.
For as long as Openline has existed, Openline and certain readers have called on probably a hundred people to resign (I don't know the actual number, but it's a lot). And I can't think of a single person who did so. On another post someone talked about Openline having "media power". Yeah, some power.
I hope the mayor, chief and politicians including Irvin all are thrown out of office ASAP.

Linda Chapa must be really desperate for that million bucks to fund the pizza place scheme (restaurant row) that would enrich herself and her husband. I thought she hated the mayor, but I suppose this proves she'll throw a murder victim under the bus to make Tom Weisner look good if it will get them a million bucks.
The good thing with Irvin at the helm of his defense he is domed to a life in prison. I am glad Irvin is his defense attorney.

No, the actual murder was done in Aurora. The body was then relocated to another location in Aurora and burned. The body was then dumped in Montgomery near the border of Aurora. Horrible crime.

I can't wait to hear Clayton justify the mayor, chief and politicians exploit a murder. I would like to think Clayton would walk in on Day 1 of his job and tell the mayor how wrong this was but I don't think Clayton has the courage to do so, even though he knows how wrong it is.

Leave it to Stephanie Kifowit to be available for a photo-op. She had nothing to do with helping or hurting crime in Aurora. How about a photo of the police officers who are all on the front lines? She just loves seeing herself all over the news. Too bad she loves her own ugly face more than her constituents. If there is free food and a camera, then her fat ass and shiny bald head is THERE. People: please stop giving into her narcissist tendencies and photographing her. She is ugly inside and out and doesn't deserve any attention whatsoever until she does something helpful for her district.
