Should Police and Government Be Able to Read Your Text Messages? Should You Be Able to Read Their Text Messages Back?

Should police be able to read your text messages?

How long should cellular providers be "required" to store them or should they not be required to store them at all?

Is it a form of domestic spying and surveillance?

Should the law instead say that a cellular provider can only store your text messages if there's a court order and basis?

And, if the police or government can read your text messages, should the public be allowed to read the text messages of police and government?
