Murders Increase 200 Percent and Shootings Increase Almost 300 Percent in Aurora Since Corrupt Mayor Exploited Crime Stats

After an expensive and time-consuming publicity spree in recent months to exploit crime stats by corrupt Aurora Mayor Tom Weisner, Police Chief Greg Thomas, Red Light Camera Scheme Supporter Joe Groom and foolish state reps like Stephanie Kifowit and Linda Chapa-LaVia, it's all backfiring.

Although shootings have been widespread even during all the publicity stunts, another murder now officially increases Aurora's murder rate by TWO HUNDRED PERCENT.

In fact, shootings have increased for 2013 at this point in the year by almost THREE HUNDRED PERCENT.

And, those are just reported shootings that are disclosed by the Aurora Police Department.  They don't include ALL shootings.

In fact, in most cases, it's only by chance that we don't have over TWENTYMURDERS thus far in 2013.  We are simply lucky that many of these shootings missed creating a fatality.

Politicians like Weisner, Kifowit and Chapa-LaVia were happy to dance and backslap each other just a few weeks ago over a crime stat from last year.

However, now as reality smacks the false concept that "crime is down" these same politicians are hiding under their desks.

Serious crime, shootings and murders must not be important enough to do a publicity spree.

Erika Wurst reports:

Aurora police confirmed on Wednesday that shooting incidents throughout the city are up this year. Preliminary numbers show that 25 shootings have been reported as of April 15, compared to last year when nine shootings took place during the same time frame. Aurora has two murders on the books for 2013, while last year, there was not a single reported homicide.

“There have been quite a number of incidents the last couple months on the West Side of Aurora,” outgoing Fourth Ward Alderman Rick Lawrence said. The city’s second murder took place in his ward.
“[Crime is] flaring up a bit. It comes in cycles, and the police are very busy,” Lawrence said. “That’s why you don’t claim for some reason that you have solved this. Nothing has really changed, other than a cycle ... Aurora has a long way to go.”
Lawrence said residents of the Fourth Ward have been very successful in pushing gang members out of their neighborhoods in recent years. By identifying problem properties, and working with landlords, Lawrence, local police, and concerned residents have helped send gang members on their way, he said.
Still, there are a “half dozen to 10 particular properties that we deal with on a regular basis,” Lawrence said.
One Fourth Ward neighborhood watch group is “constantly monitoring everything,” Lawrence said, and the news isn’t good.
“Over the last couple months, gangs and drug activity has been a much greater topic of discussion than it was last year,” he said.
Lawrence said the area has recently been nailed by gang graffiti.
“Drive around this city, really ... it’s terrible that [a murder] happened in any neighborhood, but look around. Does this city really look any different than it did 10 years ago? No matter what the mayor says, we’ve been dealing with this a lot,” Lawrence said. “What you’re seeing here, this is nothing new. It has just quieted down. That’s why you don’t jump around and tell everyone you solved the problem.”
Lawrence said he’s concerned the problem will get worse before it gets better.
“I’m telling you, the police have been saying for several months that this [crime wave] could take off at anytime. They have been very busy,” Lawrence said. “That doesn’t fit into model we want everyone to believe, but it is what were dealing with living in Aurora.”

An APD officer told me that the only reason we went murder-free in 2012 was that "our bangers are lousy shots".

I agree (are you shocked?) with you that celebrating the results were a display of arrogance rather than merely an inspiration for finding better solutions for the violence that grabs our city.

Regarding the murder rate, it was a good year for Aurora. How could the press ignore that? The Mayor had no alternative but to acknowledge that. There was no exploitation. The Mayor praised the citizins & the Police Department, not himself. Of course it wasn't going to last. Do your self a favor, & compare the 5 year murder rates in Peoria, & Rockford against Aurora. Go back five years, & you will see we doing lot better job than you might think. BTW Im no fan of the mayor. This is not an issue to rip him for.

So do we know get the 500 bucks back that were stolen from the taxpaying citizens to give to the police for simply doing their job?

No!

I think the mayor did exploit the murder stat from last year, just like Openline is exploiting the stats from this year. 100%, 200%, etc. Way to sensationalize. Of course if you're going from 0, it's going to seem like a huge increase. Erika Wurst in the Beacon (who you of course stole from w/o giving them credit) reported the information w/o sensationalizing it. But of course that's what you're all about. I wonder whether you'd report it at all if Rick Lawrence hadn't chickened out, had stayed in the mayoral race, and actually won, and we had these numbers? Not.

Gee 6:56 and when is the last time big brave you ran for mayor - or anything?

Tell us exactly how much of your money you would be willing to put up on a race you knew you could not win?

Classy blog

Right I am simple minded and ignorant - but that still does not change the fact you did not run for mayor nor were you willing to put up your own money to run. So why should you expect anyone else to?

The candidates who ran for office to represent the people as a whole and not special interest financed there own campaigns and were wiped out. They just threw a way a lot of money for no reason. Rick proved he was smart by not running and wasting his money for an bunch of ingrates. Other people had to learn the hard way.

Keep blowing yourself, Rick. Seriously, please. You're Aurora's punch line.

11:32 I don't have a vendetta for the mayor, you do.

Anonymous said...

Oh, so the reason Rick lost was because we are a bunch of ingrates, huh? Not worth the money and effort for a full-fledged campaign? Couldn't have because as an at large candidate everyone knew you were a proven jackass, could it?

11:32 I don't have a vendetta for the mayor, you do.

Another gutlees, pussy, coward content to swab the sweat from the mayors ball with his tongue. You are such a pathetic little man.

1:11 Yes, I would say the citizen's of this community were a proven bunch of ingrates for not supporting Lawrence for the last 8 years. There were several chances for the taxpaying citizens to take back their municipal Government from the corruption of cronyism and they would not step up to the plate.

It will not happen again. A wise citizenry would now push to eliminate all the Alderman as they serve no purpose other than to rubberstamp what the mayors committees recommend anyway and they are very expensive in the long run with lifetime healthcare that extends to their family.

Rick was the last, semi-regular, semi-interdependent person you will ever see on the city council. From here on out you will have an endless parade of connected people. Look at the all the ward races and look at what happened. This city is now owned by special interest.

Murders increase 200%!!! Umhhh, Openline must have missed school the day they covered percentages. An increase from zero to two would be "undefined" as a percentage. I suppose expecting Openline to retain a little 4th grade math is setting the bar way too high. Unfortunately, it's symptomatic of a more general overemphasis in this blog on screaming sensationalism versus fact or accuracy. There would seem to be three choices here. Change the leader to of the following:

- "Murders increase from zero to two!"

- "Murders increase an undefined percentage!"

- "We apologize for being a dumb-ass!"

Personally, I think the third one works best...

Among the statistics he cites are that54% of all murders involve black victims, virtually all of whom were killed by black murderers, and yet blacks comprise only 13% of the population.
These are familiar numbers, but, as Williams points out, although more than half the “gun problem” can be laid at the feet of blacks, the gun debate never seems to mention this. If it were mentioned, the obvious thought that might occur is maybe it’s blacks that need to be regulated and not guns.
Three years ago I wrote the following in the prologue to my bookThey Came For Our Guns, They came For Our Freedom:
“The single most important factor that has caused the political left to demand an end to private firearms ownership is that the underclass has, over the last fifty years, expanded exponentially, bringing with it an exponential increase in crime. Many of these criminals come from the single-parent families encouraged by the welfare system, a dysfunctional government give-away favored by the far left. The absence of fathers has led large numbers of children to seek gangs as a substitute for parenting not available at home. Not content with having created an entire class of welfare-bred criminals, the political left now seeks to protect this underclass by rendering ordinary citizens defenseless against crime perpetrated by these criminals.”
In sum, both blacks and whites are part of this criminal underclass, but, as Juan Williams points out, blacks, a 13% minority, are doing 54% of the killing and dying. That needs to be said.
Why is this happening? According to Juan Williams, the out of wedlock birth rate for blacks is now 72%. This leads to more than 70% of black mothers being on welfare raising more than 70% of black children without fathers.
That’s part of the problem. Another part, Williams says, is:
“a dysfunctional gangster-rap culture that glorifies promiscuity, drug dealers and the power of the gun.”
So now we have black culture of violence financed by the welfare system producing what are – by any measure – distorted values. One might think this needs to be addressed.
Not so. The President of the United States recently invited the gangster rapper Jay-Z to his inauguration. Jay-Z is the black poster boy for the value system that Juan Williams says is destroying the black community. Inviting him to the presidential inauguration is, by implication, an endorsement of the mindlessness characteristic of Jay-Z and his supporters.
But Obama is not a moralist. He is a politician who panders himself to the black vote and avoids criticizing the criminal culture that has enslaved his people. Obama made no move toward gun control until a white madman killed young children at Sandy Hook . In Obama’s mind, that single act instantly transformed the “gun problem” into a white (not black) problem. It is about white misconduct, not about blacks, black culture or black behavior.
Guess what. It’s still about blacks. They are victims and killers in disproportionate numbers. An occasional white maniac does not erase that. People who want to reduce homicide by gun need to focus on curbing a black culture that has caused the problem in the first place.
Banning guns to cure black murderousness, crime and cultural deficiencies is like banning popsicles to deal with an outbreak of the Ebola virus.
The real answer to the problem is being ignored!!!

Looks like the Whizz's allies are out to kick the candidate when he is down. Just what I would expect of these idiots.

So commie Quinn wants the cities to have the gun control laws. Can you imagine just what a legal nightmare that would be? Just another Obama like ploy to confuse the public and dilute the opposition. The 2nd should stand period. Call your representative and protest with threats of voting against any candidate that thinks the constitution is a "living" document or you will soon be without it.

Over half of the violent crime in this country is caused by 3% of the population. Young/African-Amercian/Male. Don't have children unless you know that there is going to be a responsible father there to help raise a decent boy/man.

Anonymous said...

9:30 have a statistical source to back up your assertion?

Anonymous said...

In Aurora over half the crime an be traced to the bastard children of Scheketa Hart-Burns.

Anonymous said...

And the other half to crimes personally committed by Richard Irvin or Juany Garza.

Anonymous said...

11:54 and 10:03 not quite half. You forgot the breaking and entering and trespassing by Rick Lawrence.

So essentially if we got rid of the city council crime in aurora would cease to exist. Sadly, that is probably not far from the truth.
