School Boards | West Aurora District 129 Loses Key Member; East Aurora District 131 Soap Opera Continues

West Aurora School District 129's school board has re-elected Neal Ormond as President.

Two new members to the board voted against Ormond, including Robert Patterson.

The other board member voting against Ormond was Valerie Brown Dykstra, who worked for years in the City of Aurora's legal department along with fellow incompetent and staff, including so-called corporation counsel Alayne Weingartz.

Even worse, the board is losing Mark Bradford, who had been at the epicenter of insuring the fiscal health and the transformation of the district.

Meanwhile, the ongoing soap opera at East Aurora School District 131will likely continue.

On Monday, Annette Johnson was re-elected as President by a 4-3 vote and new members Kirsten Strand and Mary Louise Peryea were added to the board.

"fiscal health and the transformation of the district"

Raising taxes and running out of money is "fiscal health"? And do you mean the "transformation" that let Orland get away w/ having sex w/ students?

Ms. Dykstra-Brown was given the boot along with many others when the incoming mayor decided competent people were dangerous to his administration and he prefered to hire a chicago law firm more in tune with his corrupt management style.

Heard there was one outgoing alderman that was a no show at tonights's Special City Council Meeting. Nice class move. Let's open it up for votes and poll the readers on who everyone thinks that absent alderman might be. Ready, fire, aim!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Ormond is a tax and spend liberal who is the reason our tax bills are so high.

Does it really matter who runs the district? Come on now, 129 and 131 both suck. Do they even speak English at East Aurora High School?

Only in foreign language class

Word on the street is that Annette Johnson is going to change the policy of the board so that her presidency will last for 2 years instead of 1 (current policy). Awesome-she has the 4 votes, so the reign of terror will continue.

Test scores are in the toilet, there's no administration at the high school for next year and a bully has free reign to terrorize the school. How do we make this stop?

Looks like Annette is breaking the law once again-her mother passed away over a year ago, but she failed to report that to the county. Looks like she's the one ripping taxpayers off-she has a senior exemption on her house:
http://www.co.kane.il.us/TaxAssessment/Treasurer.aspx?parcelnumber=1514176017&TaxYear=

Also-apparently she paid all the costs for her, Stella Gonzalez, Marcella Duermit and Richard Johnson's campaign but didn't report any expenditures to the state. If she did pay for all those signs, she clearly broke election law since she didn't report support to other candidates.

Does anyone know why Bradfrod lost?

Johnson and her mother also while her mother was alive broke the law with the Senior Freeze on homes. You have to sign up every year for that on and they did it from 2001 to 2011 when her mom passed away. With that one you have to fill out and application and no one in the home can make over 55,000.00 a year. Anyone who has heard Annette talk knows she likes to brag about how much money she makes and it is well over 55,000.00.

Get rid of the teachers and replace them with a virtual classroom.

We took our daughter out of 129 when the teachers started perving on the students and enrolled her in The George Washington University Online High School ...it is totally awesome. No more being held back by Kizzy or Juan, worrying about her being raped in the hallway and she interacts with top flight, motivated, highly intelligent students from all over the country. If your child has an IQ over 120 you really owe it to them to send your kid to a decent school.

2:07 a.m., I think it's great that you chose an educational option that works best for your child.

But for my own kids, the best choice was to move to D204 where there was a special program (Project Arrow) for my intellectually gifted son and multiple instrumental ensembles & events for my musically talented daughter. My spouse has worked in D131 for 20+ years, but we realized after my son's grade school years that Waldo and East High would NOT be a good fit for our kids.

Good parents evaluate options for their children's education, and choose what is best for them.

I had an elderly family member who NEEDED a Senior Freeze. To get this approved you have to submit documentation such as income statements, etc. It took over a year to get it approved. They died before it made any difference and then it took over 2 years to get this removed from the tax bill!! I personally made several trips to Geneva and thought it was all taken care of but the next year the bill was still wrong. They did change the billing address, but sadly that was wrong too! So sorry was the reply! Just get it online!

They informed me that none of the county agencies share records such as death certificates. I challenge anyone to call there to make a change during this current tax period and get a correct answer from anyone. I was rudely told they cannot make corrections (even to pay more) after the tax bill has been printed. You have to wait for the next tax year billing.

Guess what OPENLINE.....You cannot cheat on your tax bill. They will just put a lien on the property and at some point it will be paid. In my case it really only amounted to less than $300.00 including penalty. It was the unnecessary hassle that disturbed me.

I am sure with a high level accounting degree Ms. Johnson knows the tax law inside and out. Because of my dealings I can assure anyone that all of this was just a paper processing delay. I do not personally know her but I bet she will make the full payment with interest before the due date. With her background there is no way she would feel it necessary or practical to avoid the tax.

I am a Dist. 131 homeowner and I am glad that due to her fiscal responsibility she has kept my taxes at a reasonable level this year. It is the first time in many.

I think I am going to check out the other Dist. 131 Board, especially the 2 new members to see what and how much they are paying.

You miss the point 5/9/13, 12:43 PM for the senior freeze you have to apply every year and can't make over 55,000.00 and that is for everyone living in the home. Annette makes over 55,0000.00 a year so they lied to beging with.
I checked out the form for the senior freeze and it isn't to hard to fill out. Sure you can cheat on your tax bill and until they find out there will be no lien.

My neighbor called to ask a question about his taxes and he is elderly and got the senior freeze. He mentioned that his son moved in with him and what he made and they took it away right then and he even go a letter stating it.

As long as the East Side has the crappy schools that we do we will not have parents with people that will buy a home here.

If you are a smart kid and go to a school with low test scores your chances of getting a scholarship are increased.

My neighbor's son received a full ride to Notre Dame back in the 1980"s. He did not even play sports.

To some Dist#131 is a benefit.

Why is it a disadvantage not to have parents buying? Kids = school = taxes. children = youth gangs = violence = police = increased taxes

Anonymous said...

2:32 - so the game shoudl be to make sure you never support your own children? Welfare mentality.

11:47 & 1:35
I think YOU missed the point. I just reviewed the tax bill for the Johnson Family and there is NO SENIOR FREEZE listed! ZERO!

There is only a Senior Discount which at the time was valid. Read the requirements.

My point for even responding was to point out the inefficiency’s at the County offices when you want to make changes and corrections for anything. Nothing can be corrected during a tax year after the printing is done. They share no files with any of the other agencies. I would like some of this “road” money to be expanded to include technology upgrades for all Government departments.

Rick is this you again with nothing to do????? If so I have several topics that are much more relevant that you can work on to improve everyone’s quality of life. What happened to the wind energy you were so excited about? Now there is a topic....

Dist. 131 is lucky to have someone committed to enriching the district and the school children. This Non-paying position is one that few could handle. I did not know of Ms. Johnson in the past but I am following her now. We need more like her on the East Side.

Why the mis-information? What to gain?

FYI private school Scholarships are give out by the schools most funded by the alumni, not the State or Federal Government.

They are not welfare. They are earned by the student and grades must be maintained. Where did you go to school?

If the money is not coming out of your pocket it is welfare. Get real abut who and what you are. ANY money that does not come out of your pocket comes out of someone else. It makes you a beggar, a taker...why is it thieves cannot ever admit they steal? Why is it welfare tarts refuse to admit they are on the dole?

Anonymous said...

So 9:49 has just labelled all the athletes receiving athletic scholarships across the country as welfare tarts. After all, the money isn't coming out of their pockets. For that matter, all employees are welfare tarts because the money isn't coming out of their pockets, either. Anyone at work who gets a bonus for exceptional performance is a welfare tart. Anyone who isn't in the 1% is a welfare tart -- actually, I guess they must be because unless they personally printed the money, at some point it came out of someone else's pocket. Including 9:49.

I'd say you need to reconsider your logic, but you can't reconsider what's not there to begin with.

Anonymous said...

9:49 is probably one of those tea-bagger types who thinks that anyone who uses a service paid for with tax dollars is a thief. That would mean 98% of us, when we go to a public library or park or heaven forbid our kids go to community college or accept a scholarship.

Anonymous said...

You folks just cannot handle reality. Try as you might you cannot admit what you are. That is why there is no hope for you, you cannot even be honest with yourself.

Anonymous said...

And neither can you, 10:52. Do you drive on the public streets? Paid for w/ other people's tax dollars. Do you have water and sewer in your house? Paid for by tax dollars. You are just as much a "taker" as anyone else. And are even more dishonest with yourself.

Anonymous said...

Bullshit 2:38 - I don't have my hand out to anything you faggot mother fucker.

Anonymous said...

So why does 129 need to spend $145,000 on taxi cab rides for the kids?

Anonymous said...

12:49 a.m., so glad you don't participate in government-sponsored activities. Your inability to communicate without spewing obscenities would be a bad influence on my kids.

Anonymous said...

If 12:49's house were on fire would they refuse help from the (tax-supported) fire department? How about if 12:49 had a heart attack...should we wait to call an ambulance until you are able to produce enough cash to pay for it?

Anonymous said...

The guy has a point only you welfare tarts who don;t want to support your own kids or self refuse to acknowledge it. Funny how when someone calls you what you are you jump all over him. Bunch of lazy, shiftless, Link Card, Obama phone carrying bums.

There is a huge difference with common shared infrastructure.

Anonymous said...

So how long before ACT scores fall into the single digits?

Anonymous said...

So 2:28, you are saying that the public school system in the US is NOT a common shared infrastructure? Please elaborate....seems to me my tax bill shows a portion going to my local school district. I am also unaware of any public institution of higher learning that does not use tax dollars. Most private universities also accept large sums from the federal government for research projects etc. Basically you are saying that anyone who has gone to school in the US is a welfare tart. I don't know of many who would agree with you.

Anonymous said...

12:49 admitted he didn't have an answer to any of the points made, and that his own argument is flawed, by sinking down into the gutter. Called names, w/o addressing any points. Come to think of it, maybe the gutter isn't sinking down for him, maybe it's rising up.

Anonymous said...

No public school is not a common shared infrastructure. And yes anyone who goes to a US school is a welfare tart. Duh...

You are forcing people who do not have children to support your CHOICE to procreate with no tangible benefit to them.

You are STEALING from them and using the force of Government to make them subsidize your choice to have children.

You are the one who does a 100% voluntary act that results in children. And then YOU FORCE other people to support your children's education. It is unethical,it is immoral and yes it is welfare!

Anonymous said...

3;30 pm sucks cock.

Anonymous said...

9:53, it is unfortunate that your parents chose to procreate......I would hope they didn't support the welfare state for your sake! Home schooled were you?

Anonymous said...

No it isn't welfare 9:53. You're an idiot.

Anonymous said...

Let me see, you force other people to pay for your children's education - that's welfare you idiot!

And anyone who sends their child to a public school is a thief - pure and simple. And if you deny that not only are you a thief and a welfare tart bu ta liar too.

Anonymous said...

AMEN 5:01 - bravo.

Anonymous said...

Yes 5:01, by all means don't be a thief and use public schools. Make sure you buy your home school textbooks, because if you use the tax supported public library to check some out you would be a thief. When you buy your home school books, make sure you don't use the tax supported Postal Service to have them mailed to you, because if you mail anything you would be a thief. When you go to pick up your books, don't drive on any roads maintained by the city, county, township, state or federal government, because then you would be a thief. When you walk to the store, don't buy any tax supported milk, or meat or poultry inspected by the USDA, otherwise you would be thief. Actually, 5:01, why are you even online? The world wide web is maintained by a consortium of government and quasi-government agencies, therefore by posting your views here you are using tax supported services, so by your own definition you yourself are a thief. I should call the (tax supported) police on you, you thief.
