Why is the City buying another downtown building? How about finding buyers who will actually do some redevelopment! What a bunch of clowns we have working for us.

Huselberg, Wiet and everyone else who has been responsible for this City's botched redevelopment need to go. Start over with a new Mayor and people who can get it done.

Chapa Via will just have her husband profit from city deals. Same old crap in Weisner Crony City. Build more homeless shelters, so other cities can stay nice.

Muy Bien Loco Gringos

I like how the Beacon said Aurora's bowling alley. Aurora does not have a bowling alley that's Montgomery, we don't have a theatre, we lost our Walmart, Jewel is next. Maybe Weisner can have food trucks and corn carts in all neighborhoods.

The Walmart on Galena is closing, but the one on Kirk is still there.

So what? The old Blockbuster, Jewelry store, Hobby Lobby, Hallmark Store, Radio Shak and other spaces in the Plaza are empty. Combined with empty Dreyer and the mostly empty bank, the street is just sad. With this group from City Hall on the case, pretty soon it'll be just as glamorous as Northgate/Lake St!

Murals are now the aces in Aurora's surging economic blast furnace. Think of all that potential on Galena and Lake.

Maybe a homeless lives matter mural painted on the sides of Leland tower.

Name a commercial building or strip that epitomizes all that is Aurora.

Interestingly, it is said the West Plaza Walmart is closing because they were not being allowed to expand the store into a superWalmart.

That, actually nice, new beaner plaza on Root street between NewYork and Galena. The only people building new retail space are the beaners. Actually the plaza Panchos is in is new and nice also.

I suspect once Chapa-LaVia is in, toward the end of her second term, there will be a move to rename aurora to something that reflects it predominate Mexican heritage.

If you look at the city, the high density area around the mall (not OakHurst) is getting old enough to start attracting Hispanic buyers. Once that Latinoizes you will see a move for a couple of the higher end subdivisions on the east side to be annexed into Naperville. That will be interesting to watch unfold.

But either way, given the bunch running for mayor Aurora will no longer be a first world American city, it is destined to be a Latino hellhole like Cicero

Take your racist bullshit to the next Trump rally. I hope Hillary makes you her bitch.

now that we lost Walmart, I can't wait for that new Eli food store to open downtown at Galena and Broadway. Exciting times in Aurora

I actually talked to Walmart today. They leased the space, the lease was up and they were not allowed to expand to a SuperStore format. Additionally the renewal was too high on a cost per square foot basis for the foot traffic and revenue per person. So...it should be interesting to how many years it stays vacant.

With new superstores opening up in the area, the writing has been on the wall for this place for years. What I want to know is, why are our City development officials clueless again? Why weren't they ahead of this and why are we paying so many people 6 figure salaries at City Hall when we have all that vacant land on Orchard, an empty Cosmo Market and Party Central, half of West Plaza unoccupied and now a ghost Walmart? Time to get rid of people.

Don;t forget their is a strip of new unoccupied retail space in the plaza Aldi's is in on Galena, behind Robison's Auto repair.

It will make a good church / tortilla factory / refugee center / democratic voter registration center

Also the worlds largest cash for title store

maybe a indoor flee market like the old Seigles on new York street or Thor power tool on State street or Community Discount on Lake street.
